I know everyone has the right to sell anything they own, but seeing the number of signed items suddenly showing up on e-bay is disgraceful in my opinion. Very sad to see this so soon. There is more to life than making a profit. A little respect can go a long way.

Is Galpin Ford the best choice for SVT service and repairs in SoCal?

I live in Orange County (Mission Viejo for those familiar) and looking for the best place to take my Shelby for the 1-2 shift grinding issue correction and to replace a front left rotor (a gouge is developing after 1700 miles). I've read that Nelson Buss is the POC we should deal with (if still there) and that they have over 12 SVT master techs on staff. Anyone have recent experiences with them and their transmission work? Anyone else recommend another area dealer for this?
Thanks!

So Cal Local Memorial For Carroll Shelby

I was wondering if anyone local here in So Cal would like to gather for a Memorial for Carroll Shelby on May 26th, for those of you who cannot make the San Jose gathering like myself. I thought about doing this by myself, but the more the merryier. If anyone cares to join me, I can call Mooneyes and warn them that we are comming, and mayby see if each one of us can get photo ops of our car in the same garage bay that the first Cobra came to life in. After that have a cruise down PCH and then head over to the Gardena Office where we can drop off flowers, donations, and pay our respects. This is just an Idea I thought of, and with enough people, could be a cool small tribute. Anyone interested, chime in!

Good line up this year and our band is playing a set Saturday as well as throughout the Festival.
I will be heading up the musician's (free to all) Sunday Gospel Blues Brunch and Music Jam, which was a blast last year. Most of the acts hold over to attend this gathering of musicians, fans, friends and family. We all visit, and jam in a relaxed setting.

Carroll Shelby's REAL Legacy

Carroll Shelby’s REAL legacy.

I’ve thought a lot about Carroll Shelby the last several days since the news of his passing. I have often asked myself, why have so many of us been so fascinated with this man and these cars, for so long? I think the real answer lies not with a single aspect of Carroll Shelby’s life. Not the Cobra, not the Mustang, not LeMans, not the Chili, etc., but with his indomitable spirit. The sickly child with a weak heart, born of inauspicious parents in a tiny Texas town who grew into the chicken farmer that handily defeated the arrogant Enzo Ferrari on the great courses of Europe and went on to become an iconic figure in the automotive world projected an energy we all wanted to tap into. To chalk up even some of Mr. Shelby’s achievements would give anyone the right to claim a life well-lived. To accomplish all of them in the constant face of life-threatening illness and disability, definitely make him larger than life.

Carroll Shelby seems to have lived his entire life “pedal to the metal” in spite of whatever odds were placed in his way. In the latter half of his life, basking in the glory of his previous conquests, he devoted tremendous amounts of time and energy into helping others who struggle with illness and uncertainty.

I drive my Shelby GT to work each day, because the inspiration I get from doing so is worth far more to me than any concerns about its collector value. When I pull into my parking space, shut down the engine, and look over at Carroll’s signature on the airbag cover, I feel like I’ve already done something different and more meaningful than most of my coworkers and the day has hardly begun!

It’s that spirit of courage, passion, and compassion that permeates everything with the name Shelby on it that makes the name so irresistible.
Yes, I think Mr. Shelby’s REAL legacy is that his spirit brought out, and will continue to bring out that little bit of Carroll in all of us.

God SPEED Carroll!

It has been a sad weekend for us all. On Friday, we didn’t just lose a racer or car designer, but a family member, a friend and a legend who was loved by all. Although Carroll will not be with us at anymore press conferences, car shows or charity events, his spirit will continue to drive us, the Carroll Shelby Foundation and the automotive world to carry on the great work he has started. We thank everyone for their support and kind words through this difficult time. We are working on finalizing the details for a memorial.
My Tribute

I HAVE NEVER HAD THE CHANCE TO MEET THE LEGEND, NOR YET TO OWN A REAL SHELBY. I OWN A 65 TRIBUTE. I HEARD THE NEWS FROM A STRANGER IN ANOTHER CAR WHO NOTICED MY TRIBUTE, TOLD ME THOSE HORRIBLE 3 WORDS"CARROLL SHELBY DIED!'. I JUST FINNISHED MY LAST CLINICAL DAY IN THE X-RAY PROGRAM AND FELT REALLY GOOD UNTIL THAT WAS POINTED OUT TO ME. NEATTLESS TO SAY MY DAY WENT FROM JOY TO GRIM. MY DEEPEST SYMPATHYS GO OUT TO HIS FAMILY, SAI, AND ALL HIS FRIENDS. EVEN THOUGH I NEVER MET HIM, BOUGHT A SHELBY, NOR EVEN HAVE A SIGNATURE WITH A CERTIFICATE OF AUTHINTICITY, I WAS ALLWAYS PROUD TO AT LEAST OWN A TRIBUTE AND SHARE THE HEART FOR THE SHELBY BRAND WITH COUNTLESS OTHERS. I USED TO FEEL A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED THAT ITS A TRIBUTE OR MORE COMMONLY LABLED AS A "CLONE". AS I LOOK AND DRIVE MY CAR TODAY, THE WORD TRIBUTE HAS A WHOLE NEW MEANING. THE TRIBUTE IS NOW MENT TO SHOW HONER AND TO REPRESENT WHAT WAS ONCE ONE OF THE GREATEST AMERICAN RACE/STREET CARS TO HIT THE TRACK AND THE STREET BACK IN THE DAY. A CAR THAT WAS ORIGINALLY BUILT FOR A SECRETARY, MR. SHELBY MADE INTO A MONSTER. SO THANK YOU MR. SHELBY, I AM HONERED TO KEEP DRIVING MY TRIBUTE AS A DD SO PEOPLE CAN SEE AND HEAR WHAT IT WAS LIKE BACK IN THE DAY. I WILL ALLWAYS KEEP PREACHING THE SHELBY GOSPAL THAT I USUALLY DO, HINTING PEOPLE TO CHECK OUT THE SHELBY PRODUCTS AND TO JOIN A LITTLE CAR CLUB CALLED TEAM SHELBY. MAY WE ALL KEEP HIS FOUNDATION ALIVE, BECAUSE GOD KNOWS THERE ARE A LOT OF CHILDREN OUT THERE THAT STILL NEED HELP. AS A SIDE NOTE, I HOPE MR. SHELBY IS REUNITED WITH HIS FATHER, LOOKING DOWN ON THE WORLD AS HIS FATHER PATS HIM ON THE BACK AND TELLS HIM "I AM PROUD OF WHAT YOU HAVE DONE,AND WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO TAKE ME FOR A RIDE?" - LIVES MAY NOT LIVE FOREVER, BUT LENGENDS CAN!
