GT500 factory-look rear rims in 11" width?????

Is anyone out there interested? I'd be happy to spearhead this and do the legwork on helping with offsets, clearance, etc etc and all the phone calls to push this along, if enough of us are interested in trying to demonstrate that we could put together a group buy, if some manufacturer were inclined to build the rims......
This could be a super easy, very affordable upgrade for everyone. 9.5" wide rear rims are a joke on ths car.....

I would be in if they fit.
I think there is room for 1/2 inch on the outside, but maybe not 1.5 on the inside. If you can figure it out I would be in for sure.

I take it you mean Ford FR500 wheels then, that are OEM on a GT500.
Razors are Shelby Factory for the 40th Anniversary Edition and a popular wheel for a good number of Gt500 owners. I'll start another thread for them.
Sorry.

I have had some preliminary discussions with wheel designers/manufacturers this they are confident this can be done (a run of stock-look 18X10.5 or 18x11 rims). The cost of a mold would be sustainable if maybe 100 pieces could be produced in a run, for starters (that's only 50 orders of two rear rims). This rim would also fit the 2005+ mustang GT, so that should not be much of a stretch to assemble the first 50 buyers or so.....
Justin went 11.5" on widened factory rims, which I am told wil likely require shock mount mods, but 11" wide should not need mods, with the proper offset/backspacing.
It would take a few months to put up deposits, order the drawings done up, order the mold to be made, and do a run. Winter is perfect timing to get this rolling, as many of you have your cars in storage for winter.....
If we can demonstrate, say 25 guys who would put up a small deposit to order the rims, we could get a manufacturer/vendor to participate in this thread pretty quickly....
Maybe we should set up a poll to see if we can get anywhere near 25-50 affirmative votes of who would order the rims for the rear of their GT500 (or mustang GT) if assured the rims will fit properly...

So if I widened my rims to an 11" rim what would be the widest tire I can fit on it. Perhaps I'll slap the 9.5" in the front with 275's and widen the front rims to 11" and put them in the back or does the front rims have a different offset and backspacing?

For the Front
These will be Drag Strip Wheels and Tires only.
I'm planning on Widening these rear Wheels 1.5” later. Our Stock wheels lave a 7.22" Back Spacing. The 17x10.5s has a 6.85 Back Spacing. That means they will have .37" more Clearance on the inside of the Wheel Well. That also means they will protrude 1.37" out more then the Stock Wheels. I can live with that for Track Only Wheels. I may buy 2 more rear Wheels later just to match the front for Cruising.

So will the 18X10.5s FR500s fit with a big fat tire on it? How about the 17X10.5? I dont mind it sticking out a little, strip tire.
Still would love Schindels rim concept with some new MT meats on the car all the time.
