I'm another one with this problem. Car sits in the garage here in TN, go to start it after a few weeks and nothing. Since the battery was original, I figured I'd get another one. Installed it and it worked fine for a while when I wanted to take her out for a little fresh air. After a few weeks, the new battery was also dead. So, I recharged it and installed a quick disconnect for the negative side. Now when I'm not driving it I just unscrew the knob which disconnects the battery, but maintains computer settings, radio, clock, etc., while battery is disconnected by using a 15 amp fused bypass. Works great.

Gary what you did is one way to solve the battery drain problem but for some of us, including me I want to keep eveything as stock as possible. By adding battery disconnects or extra fuses this won't work.
I intend to enter a MCA show next summer and this will not work for me.

Other than the switch being on the negative battery post (not that noticeable), everything is 'stock'. Are you saying for the show you enter you can't have any after-market parts like that?

Like many others with a GT-H, I've had the dead battery issues presumably the result of not driving the car for weeks at a time. I've been using the battery tender successfully to maintain the battery. When I read the earlier posts by 19again, I decided to order the multi function relay to see if this fixed the root cause of my problem. I removed the battery tender, installed the relay, and waited four weeks before I attempted to start the car. What a difference! The battery was strong and the car started immediately -- completely the opposite result that I'd experienced for the past three years.

Thank you 19again.

I am sorry to say the dreaded battery drain reared its ugly head this week on #352  . Went to start her this evening and no juice. Now its been 2 weeks this Sunday since driven :shift: and that last trip was over 400 miles. So there is more to just the Multifunction Relay being replaced. Both radios [head unit and Sirius] were off and when I went to start her they showed off. Next week I will bring her to my excellent mech and see what he can find.

I was surprised by your last post. Sorry to hear the problem came back. For me, however, its been five months and your advice about replacing the relay has been a complete success.

I had the pleasure of experiencing the dreaded battery drain this past weekend. Odd part is, I just had a new battery put in and did not have this issue until doing so. I took it out on Friday for a quick run into town and on the way back, the radio display shows "low battery". Checked it when I got home and it was indeed low. The car did sit for 3 weeks though, so maybe a little too long. I bought a battery tender just to assure no more issue for the short trips this car makes. It is a rather annoying issue though.

Have you tried the relay change that I posted? Since mine went dead some time back I haven't had a problem but I know why and that's because I have driven it every week. The tender will do the job for sure!

Makes sense the anti - theft is off not draining the battery.

I was going to post up that idea too .my question is how many with battery drain problems have alarm on the car .I had 03 cobra had same problem .I had a lojack alarm on the car.also look into the light switch on these cars too that was the culprit on mine. for some reason I keep thinking the alt. could be faulty.i have gt500 kr I still have the original battery in too. the battery tender is a good idea but then again why do I need one plugged into the car all the time that is what I would be questioning.

i own a 2006 shelby gt-h. from day one i've had the battery drain problem. i've replaced the battery & two weeks later the battery was again dead. So i did like everyone else, bought a battery tender, which works fine. my concern is if i drive to the airport and leave the car for a week or so & can't plug in the battery tender i'm screwed. So, last week 1/8/14 i removed my factory Shaker 500, 6 CD changer, & i removed the (Hertz) Sirius radio. i replaced them with a Alpine bluetooth single CD radio, and a Alpine power amp. i also replaced the 4 speakers with Alpine speakers. i kept the 2 door mounted sub-woofers. My car has not been on the battery tender since 1/8/14. i just got in from the garage & my car started with no problems ! Usually my car wouldn't start after 5 days or so. So i hope that i have solved my battery drain problems. i'm guessing it has to do with the Sirius radio, and/or the factory Shaker 500 radio. I had talked to Shelby American about this issue, and asked what other than removing the factory fog lights, and installing the Sirius radio, what else electrical did they do that might cause the draining problem. i was told that Hertz had put some sort of GPS system in the car so they could track the rental cars. So far, i did not find any on my car. i hope this is helpful. Steve '06 GT-H
