What can I say, he is a better driver. I went around the corner and saw that blue flag waving (which means let somebody pass) and I eased up on the throttle to let Tom go by. I'll get him next time; I'm still learning. Looking forward to the next time I can get on the track with him. Nice driving Tom. Well done.

Quite simple really,....... I'VE GOT THE SKILLS TO PAY THE BILLS....jk

Thanx for the compliment Dana,....but as much fun as it is to get adulation about my driving prowess, let me qualify by saying this....I had signed up for the "Advanced" (green) group, (based on my experience on that track) however, that group now requires a 4pt harness, stock seat belts are only 3pt. Therefore I was bumped to Intermediate (red) group. Upon seeing the roster in the Red group, I saw there were 41 cars entered, but my eye caught the beginner (yellow) group had only 17 drivers...for me it is about "track time", so i requested to run in the yellow group, and as you saw in the video, I had plenty of open space on the track...

In respect to Dana (idrathergolf), i believe that may have been his first time there (Dana, correct me if i'm wrong). And Sears Point is one of the most challenging tracks in the nation....

In the meantime, if you want to continue to shower me in praise, I will gladly accept... :hysterical: and don't get caught up in my jet wash as I roar by... :shift:

Tom not only passed a Griggs equiped vert, he passed me in my Griggs equiped coupe and it wasn't my first time out there. Those KR's are set up well for the track in stock trim. Not to mention Tom knows his way around Infineon quite well. I on the other hand am still learning. Like Dana said, next time Tom, next time! Ok maybe. Looks like I'm gonna need some track tires. They are definitely high on my list for next mod.

Speaking of stock trim, as everyone here on TS knows, the Goodyear F1's are hard as stone, and can be downright spooky when cold, but get the KR Goodyear F1's heated up, and they really stick, i had no issues after they got warm. Gary Patterson and I were having this very discussion that evening, unfortunately, they never really get "set" and then used to their designed potential in street use.

Yeah it was my first time at Sears Point. The course scared the crap out of me with my street tires (Yokohama 285's) which are not even as good as the KR stock tires. No excuse though; I saw what you did at the track and it was impressive. I found my rear sliding out around most of the turns and I was correcting with the steering wheel constantly. No way I was going to push the car and end up into a cement wall; that would be a rookie mistake. In the future, run a few laps with an instructor and get some better tires. I don't want to invest in R compound tires at this point in time but I will get some better tires for the next go around at the track.

Tom,

Yellow Group or not, a review of the video makes clear that your line through the turns at Infineon was spot on and that always contributes to winning a race! Posted Image

As respects the F1's grip at track speed, when Jim came off one of the early runs on Saturday, I witnessed how warm his Goodyears were when he pinched off edge shavings and they were sticky! Like you said, you don't see that on the street... Posted Image

Here is a clip from the same session but with a different camera. I had the GoPro mounted inside the back window (this event would not allow external mounting). Kinda cool persepctive, interesting to see how much the seat moves. Its better on full screen. First lap is under caution flag...

Did you have traction control off? Looked like the light on the dash was on. How did the back end hold? What tires and rims are you running?

Yes, traction control always off. I'm 100% stock including tires and wheels, and as I stated earlier ixn the thread, once those KR F1's heat up, they really work.

If the back end goes out, you can bring her back around nicely with the TC off, with it on, it just messes with you on the track...

Found this on Youtube. Right hand drive KR. I emailed the guy and he said there were at least 5 other KR's in Australia and all are right hand drive.

Thats what he said don't know if it is true.
