With that badging? its just too big for me!

I've been talking to a few that have seen the flyer, and I get the same response from everyone. If they left the flags off...I would do it.
But this brings up another question...how many things like this will they do? Do you get your car with this, and then miss out on the next limited run that might be even sweeter?

I guess the answer lay in 2 places....

If you are a NASCAR fan- you GOTTA get it.
If you see the look of the SS and you fall in love with the look right off- you GOTTA get it.

Does this mean that the cars that don't yet have the SS will get called up before March? Maybe that adds a third group- the I gotta have my SS now group... :happy feet:

BTW- The flyer was for marketing research...I don't think it is finalized or a for sure thing yet. It also said CONFIDENTIAL in the header of internet explorer, so Im not sure we should post it up here. Talking about it is inevitable though with our group!

My thoughts:

Pros:

Love Vegas
Sounds like we would have a great time with SAI
Would be a great Nascar experience

Cons:

Logo too large, but would probably work on my Tungsten/Black SS
Expensive time in Vegas, would rather spend the 10k on mods for my GT500 vert (performance and wheels)

Verdict....will probably pass.

Everything happens for a reason; sometimes that reason is you are stupid and make bad choices...

Some of my current vehicles:

68 Shelby Mustang GT500KR Convert Acapulco Blue

64 MKIII SP Cobra w Rousch 427R Black
07 Explorer Sport Trac Limited Red
07 Shelby GT500 Convert Torch Red
07 Shelby GT500SS Coupe Tungsten Grey

10 Lincoln MKS Ecoboost AWD
13 SVT Raptor 6.2L White w graphics

16 GT350 Shelby Cobra Mustang Oxford White w blue stripes

Future cars:

17 Ford GT if I can find one under a gazillion dollars

You know, I have thought about this all day.
It just seems like a 67 vette want-a-be

the 427, the flags.

I got the Shelby because it looked Shelby.. the package just reminds me too much of vettes.

If I want that look, I'll buy a vette

Sorry Jim. None of us (SS owners) are trying to be elitists about the information, it's just that we (SS owners that recieved the email) have been asked not to post any information about it ourselves. I'm sure that there will be an offical staff posting here soon that will give all members an opportunity to see and comment on the package's components.

We just don't want to get any dangling parts of ours stuck in the wringer so-to-speak.

Looks like about half the package value is for NASCAR fun in Vegas, the other half is for badging and a caster-camber adjuster (don't get me started on caster-camber adjusters that should be OEM - grrr!). It would be extremely hard to turn down if it jumps you up in the SS conversion queue though.

Thanks for the update. At least the rest of us know where the double secret probation SS option discussion started.

To be fair the 40th guys should get a super double secret probation upgrade option that we can't show the SS guys. :-)

When you click on the brochure the header says (confidential), but I can't imagine why. First, the logo on the fender/headrest is GINORMOUS. At what point do I have to grow a mullet to drive the thing. Secondly, I am at odds with the whole "427" thing. For an extra 10,000 do you get your engine stroked to 427 CI or your HP reduced to 427? No. They're just trading on the 427 Cobra history. I spend enough time explaining that. yes, it is a real GT500. You can just imagine how many will ask, upon seeing the 427 badge - "Does that really have a 427 under there?" Embarrassed silence followed by "Uh. no."

Basically the package hasn't been "officially" announced and as far as I know some details are not set in stone yet.

I'm sure it wont be too much longer for an official SAI press release :burnout:

I have a vision for my car...and this package doesn't fit into it...so I have decided not to do it at this point.

A large reason is my inability to pony up 37k+ in cash between now and March.

I have no problem getting my 10k deposit down on the SS and waiting another 6 months to a year and paying the other 17k (vert) but even after that, Im adding the KB supercharger, and getting a custom paint job to reflect how I think my SS should look...(yes I will have RED SS stripes) and the money is just better spent in other places.

Now- I might like coming to the race to hang out with those of you who do it!

So at the least, I hope Shelby offers some TS VIP tix for the weekend. It looks like fun, and Im glad Shelby is sponsoring some events like that- it ups the pedigree and is a genius marketing stragedy. Kudos to SAI... :happy feet:
