A real GT40 would be worth much more than $500K. Mostly because there simply aren't many left, and those that are have a very proven provenance.

Two,

Most of the originals are left. But only about 100 original cars were produced! That 100+ cars made a pretty big splash. Like you, I have admired the new production Superformance GT40s. I think the Ford GT is currently a better buy as pristine 4000 mile Red GTs can be had for $135,000 in this lousy economy.

Hi Chip,

The originals and the Superformance cars are tight, hard and fast.

The Ford GT is tight, hard and fast and has air conditioning and a wicked stereo.

When I drive the Cobra, I don't need a radio. I just smile at the pipes. I'm sure a real GT sounds just like that.
Cheers,
Tony

[b]I got to see an original at a car show this summer.

ENJOY these....I did !!! :happy feet:

Sorry but the car in your pictures is not an original but a GTD kit. Lots of differences between GTD and the original "gulf" cars.

Mach 1,

What do you mean by 4 options? Heritage paint and such, or are there some powertrain/chassis/interior extras?

Four option- painted racing stripes, MacIntosh stereo, painted brake calipers (either red or grey) and BBS lightweight wheels. The Heritage scheme was not really an option, but cost about $13K extra.
