Wanting to sell my 2010 GT500 wheels and/or tires. These are the 19" wheels on the coupe not the 18" wheels on the vert. One wheel from Ford is $1200, which obviously does not include the tire. Can sell the wheels with or without the tires. Considering serious offers only. Please PM with any questions or offers. Thanks

Edit: Car and wheels/tires have 1k miles on them. Wheels are in perfect shape, no scratches.

FYI the wheels are $800 from Ford. I just had my front wheel that was curbed on delivery replaced. Whatever dealer that was quoting $1200 is looking to bend over the customer. Good luck on your sale! :)

bpmurr,
I had to buy a new 19" passenger side frt wheel after a nasty scrape last month. My dealer invoiced me $1200 for it. Perhaps $800 is a trade price?

Nope, $800 was the dealer cost on the wheel. They are going to have to sell my wheel used after they clean it up as Ford would not accept it as a warranty item.

The wheel is $1200, that is what the dealers have quoted me and numerous other people have said the same thing. I wonder if Ford has like a set mark-up for every dealer on parts. All the dealers I have spoken to have quoted me $1200. $400 mark-up sounds about right although a little steep on a $800 part.

I agree I was quoted $730.00 plus $70.00 core from my dealer where I purchased the car. I phoned another dealer in town they quoted $1000.00 so shopping around pays. Also awhile back a set was on ebay the guy quoted the $1200.00 everyone is talking about in his description, but in an e-mail offer he said he would take $750.00 for one wheel. I bet now the replicas are out the price will drop from Ford.

I think we're saying the same thing.......the cost to the dealer, or trade cost may well be $800. I probably got hit with the full recommended retail price of $1200. :(

Here's a link to that ebay sale for anyone interested. Right now it comes out to $556 for a brand new wheel and tire. That's not a bad deal if you don't mind the stock tires.

If that set can be had for that much money, it would be worth that for almost the tires alone.

I have one wheel for sale in perfect condition that I have had no interrest in, would have thought someone would have dinged a wheel by now....I will accept far under list for it because I do not have that much in it but they do list for 1200 and every dealer may ask less depending on how much proffit they want to make.
The aftermarket are not forged, bid difference!

In time these wheels will come down in price, it's just like anything new with limited availability, they will stick it to you while they can.

Mere, can you attach a photo of the date code that is shown inside that wheel? I'm trying to pin down some production dates of these wheels relative to vehicle production. Here's a shot of what I'm looking for, as shown on the inside of one of the 2010 wheels/tires I recently acquired...

And yeah, the fact that Ford uses Taiwan to make these wheels is a sad reflection of the state of manufacturing in this country.

LOL, the Carol Shelby Branded aftermarket wheels are made in Ching Chong China. At least Tiawan is not one of the USA's Comunist Arch Enemies. It always amazes me how much stuff that the average USA consumer buys that is made in China, over 50% I would guess.

Before rushing to judgment that American manufacturing has moved off shore for just profit related motives, keep in mind that many domestic heavy industries (and related materials like wheel forgings) have been forced to close down (or relocate) due directly to burdensome environmental regulations. If you want jobs in the USA making affordable products... then government needs to back off the throttle of regulation extremism.

I worded my italicized comment carefully so as not to setoff the political radar.

That said, I couldn't agree more. What's laughable is that the same party that is 'claiming' to try to create jobs is the one placing all the restrictions on our 'heavy' industry .

But after all, Ford made the decision to source the wheel from outside the country. Obviously it was a competitive choice, in an attempt to give the end consumer the best product for the lowest cost. Sad, that we can no longer do that here in certain market segments.

Then again, there were a few runs of '95 Cobra 'R' wheels made in Japan too...

Taiwanese wheels, Mexican wiring harnesses, German engine blocks, Mexican and/or Chinese transmissions, German pistons, Canadian...wait...how come nothing ever comes from Switzerland, Norway, Belgium, or France? :redcard:

The OEM Dodge wheels I put on my Viper were also branded with the same "SuperAlloy" nomenclature and were also made in Taiwan.

They were MY2009 forged six spokes and I purchased them brand new.

So it's not just Ford getting wheels from Taiwan.
