I have the Griggs GR40SS kit with Watts Link and the "315 kit" installed that moves the rear shocks inward allowing a wider wheel to fit. I was thinking of widening my road track set of stock wheels to 11" and running Hoosier 315/30/18s which are 12.5" wide and recommended for 11"-12" rims.

I currently run the Nitto 305/40/18s on stock rims for the street and they are 12.13" wide and Toyo R888 305/35/18s on the track. I got under the car and measured to see what clearance looked like. It looked like the closest contact point is the bolt head at the top of the shock. I measured just under 2" of clearance to my Nittos and the Nittos sit 1/2" outside the stock 9.5" rims. To me it seems like I've got plenty of room to go 11" rims since the Hoosiers shouldn't sit outside the rim diameter like the Nittos. I wasn't able to measure clearance at the bump stops without getting it on a four wheel lift so I can measure with the suspension loaded.

Anyone know if the 11" will work fine with the Griggs rear setup?

You can go to 11" rims but we've run 10.5 with Toyo 305's on some cars. I don't think you need to go too wide. The biggest thing is the rotational mass of that wheel. Braking and the moment of inertia with a wheel that size are dramatic. When I finally get my 10.5" rims I will likely run 305's or 315's on all four corners.

You'll be fine either way with the 315 kit in place.

IIRC the tech who measured my wheels reckoned that I could fit 11". My advice: DONT RUSH THINGS. Get the kit installed, then measure what you have.

The recommendation from both Griggs Racing and us is to use the following:

10.5 wheel
- Toyo 888 305/35-18
- Toyo RA1 305/35-18
- Hoosier R6 315/30-18

We have had great success with these combos both on the street and on the track.

Great thanks! I've been running the 305 R888s on the 9.5s but don't like the flex from the tire hanging out so much over the rim. I really want to run the Hoosier R6 315 so I guess 10.5 is the ticket. Hopefully that doesn't add too much weight? I know Van's gonna tell me to pony up for some new (lighter) rims versus widening the stockers :banghead:

305's on a 9.5 rim is not a good idea. The chance of sidewall damage increases greatly with that wide of tread on the stock wheel.
Do you track the car with that setup or just street? The OEM SVT rims are heavy as all hell, but for $225/ea, Weldcraft is a heck of a good deal, IMO. Good luck

Nothing like a great set of lightweight Forgeline or Jongbloed Wheels ;-)
