Well, each retailer has its own schtick, and SPP's seems to be entirely based upon the perception of the brand and the premium it commands.

Lord knows there's no shortage of opportunities for PP to do better for its own benefit AND the sake of its customers, but teamshelby DOES belong to the Shelby brand - and it probably doesn't expect to find other turds being pimped in its own litter box.  No?

That said, I tried to order online a butt-load of Extreme brakes and other items last night, only to find they were priced entirely differently upon being placed in the cart.  Wish it could be easier.

I love the Shelby stuff, order all the time and am generally happy with the received products........

but the shipping costs are a bit ridiculous...

I just put an order in yesterday .....and the shipping was $34.00

the deep draw hood I ordered...the shipping was $275.00........

calling to get a better & correct price is great but providing the best & correct price for shipping up front would be more professional.........

I will admit that shipping has gone up....ALOT, but think about it.  You are paying for a Box, the Tape to seal the Box, some one to pack the Box, The stuffing that goes in the Box to protect the item, The Shipping Company to come pick up the Box and take it to their Company to Process, the People Processing it, the Plane Ride to the next place for Prcessing, the Truck Rides to the other stops for Processing, then delivered to you.  Thats a lot for $13 and change.  That Box made several Stops and was handled by a several People and Computerized Machines before it got to you.

NOW........ personally, they could have put the Hat in a USPS "Priority Mail" Box for about $8.00 and got it to you in 3 Days with less Human Contact.

And that Priority box would not have had insurance or tracking information. There is a reason that the majority of businesses out there use FedEx and UPS.

How's that?  Tracking, delivery confirmation, and even insurance is available for Priority Mail - just as most are available by any of the private services - for a fee.

We have used USPS in the past, they can not compete with the customer service that Fedex gives us. The email notification system, shipping, and damaged items.   And most of our parts will not fit in the flat rate  boxes.  We also have seen a increase in shipping costs that we pay.  We only increase to cover the cost of the packaging and some small handing fee.

True, unless you pay for it..  Here, we use FedEx and have used UPS and being a Business, all packages are insured for $100.00 and if it is more, the price goes up.  I understand using FedEx or UPS because they will automatically make Pick Ups at a certian time on a daily bassis.  As I said in the first part of my first Post, Shipping is not cheap regaurdless of who you use.

David with you being a business owner I knew exactly where you were coming from :) I was pointing out that once you add insurance and signature confirmation that price gap narrows quite a bit.

I had ordered a signed Hertz hood from SPP which was a reasonable price I thought at $400.00 and the shipping was over $300.00 to Toronto.
Apparently shipping to Michigan for the same hood was offered at $160.00 and they are only a few hours drive from me.

Needless to say I cancelled the order..

The shipping charges from Shelby Parts are crazy, I bought a set of swaybars and the cost of shipping was almost the same amount as the part.       I wonder if Shelby Performance is getting a little cut from shipping cost.

I hate to post this because I have nothing but good things to say about the shelby store.  However, the last sale I was planning on buying the carbon fiber rocker panels and front splitter...and the shipping was over 600 bucks.  I very nearly hit the accept button but glanced at the final price and thought WTF, the discount didn't take...but it did, it just happened to be undone by the extreme cost of shipping.  So I figured I didn't need the parts that badly....   However I do like the suggestions to call, I'll do that next time.

I think you need a new USPS rep. There are many factors to weigh when choosing a shipper. The one many companies overlook is lost sales due to higher prices. I'm not sure if you have the ability to track abandoned sales or not, but if you do it will show you how many sales you may be loosing after the customer sees the shipping cost.

I was going to order some decals, but the shipping cost was CRAZY. They could have gone in a regular envelope with a $.44 stamp on it.

I doubt that they can see any idea of lost sales, personaly have done a lot of what if's when planning to buy.  Keeping those records would probably fill a large hard drive with only a percentage being really lost.

My checks are usually to find which item makes the shipping double or triple for a single item being added.  Then I purchase or call to order based on understanding where I think the shipping should fall(acceptable to me).  Calling typically get me the same as my investigation.

There is probably a loss only because I do not call to challenge that next part.

My thoughts.

I always ship through usps.com but everyonce in a while I have to ship something very large through Fed-Ex I am shocked at what they charge me because I do not ship through them that often.

I asked at how often you need to ship to get a better price and the rep said each company will vary on what they pay based on the voume of sales. She gave me an example of like Best Buiy might only have to pay $10 to ship a large screen TV. I would assume Shelby gets a fairly good discount on their rates I would also assume that they do not pass those savings onto the customer but keep in mind that their customer service is VERY EXCELLENT these days and shipping time is incrediblly fast so the extra profit from shipping charges most likely goes to pay for the extra employees that now give us the excellent customer service and packing time.

I agree the prices are higher than most would like but I also understand why.

Well some things you just can't get elsewhere.  About a month ago I ordered a new Team Shelby windshield banner which retails from SPP for $35 or so.  Shipping from Las Vegas to Phoenix on the that item was $12!  I mean an item in a tiny box that weighed a whopping two ounces costs $12 to ship.  WOW.  Not really complaining about it because I really needed a new one before the bash but SPP definitely does not have good shipping prices.  They could have stuck a banner in a USPS flat rate box and it would have costs maybe $5.    Just got a new Carbon Fiber splitter on the way too coming in next week and shipping for that was $100.  Understandable I guess because it is such a large item.

i bought a shirt awhile ago and shipping was $10, just for a shirt. To me that is outrageous, compared when I shipped a shirt to Australia (From PA) for $13 not to long ago.

I still bought the shirt because no-one else had that style of shirt.

The spoiler stripe on my 09 KR was defective and needed replaced. I just received the stripe from Shelby yesterday. The package was round scroll type maybe 2' long or so only a few ounces shipping was $43.00 I thought that seemed high. Just my 2cents
