Thanks guys. First time on the track with the GT500 since I first got it and it was bone stock. I normally track my Cobra.

Had a blast with the Shelby, despite a few issues. Still had a ton of fun.

I love that track....the Corvette braked on the hump?  That is where I usually upshift to keep the car planted on that part of the track, with a bit more angle that the 'vette took.  Great video.  ( Looks like somebody took a closer look at the infield on the back straight - monster track of dust from one side of the track to the other.....opps.)  ;-)

Since my Cobra is my track car, I wanted to bring the Shelby out and take it 'easy' but get some video and photos in for the day.

3 issues were plaguing me that day:

1. Brakes - Hawk HPS pads were definitely not up to the task of slowing down a GT500 on 20" wheels on a hot day on a 2.5 mile course. I was taking it easy, but still I had to brake way too early to cut any fantastic times.

2. Heat - IAT2 temps were soaring after the 1st session. I ended up packing my intercooler tank with ice before each session, and it was enough to keep me cool enough to run. The biggest issue is the heat once coming back into the pits, it just won't go away. I think switching to a fanned Heat Exchanger like the Revan Racing unit will be huge for his reason alone. Being able to cool it down completely before going back out is key.

3. Shifting - I had a really hard time hitting 5th gear at 6k RPM. Front and back straight I couldn't hit the gear without backing off the throttle a bit. Often I just winded down in 4th before entering the next braking zone.

These issues definitely cost me a few seconds on the times without having to drive any harder than I was. I still came in 1.5 seconds quicker than my last times with the Cobra.  :shift: :hysterical:
