I have not logged into Team Shelby for over a year, and yes this is an old post, however I wanted to clarify something for future readers. I have a very early CS8, which was build in 2006. Shelby did not have dash plaques for these cars when the kits first came out. A few years after the kit was released (maybe 2007\2008) Amy finally agreed to make a dash plaque. My car has a hand signed plaque from Shelby Childrens Foundation from early in 2006 vs. the turn 1 or Turn 2 plaques from 2007\2008. I was very close to calling Shelby Autos back in 2007\2008 to get an updated plaque, but decided not to do this. Also, the CS8 did not originally come with the CS6 bumper. There were two versions of the Shelby grill in 2006. One for the CS6 (the Shelby bumper) and one for the CS8 (the Ford Mustang GT) bumper. My turn 2 has the CS8 (GT bumper) grill vs. the CS6 grill - meaning some of the first CS8's did not have the CS6 bumper installed. Just wanted to add my $.002. As a side note, I still love my CS8 - people ask "what year is that thing" every time they see it and the Paxton supercharged \intercooled engine has no problem keeping up with a brand new Boss 302. I am also a bit surprised by all of the "Shelby experts" that appear at local car shows these days. Many so-called experts think my car is a West Coast or a CS6, and were not aware that a handful of these were built back in 2k6. Well, time to stop my rant. I will probably log back into team Shelby again when it is time to take the car out again next summer. The car was put in winter storage less than an hour ago... Have a good winter everyone!
Welcome back to the board and thanks for the reply and the clarification,
You are very correct about the dash plaque however, as you stated, once the dash plaque issue was resolved in late 2006 / 2007
any vehicle that was completed to the build code was then eligible for the Turn one or Turn two plaque.
A signed plaque such as yours is a very nice touch but is available to any vehicle owner that wants to spend the $200.00 to get one.
My vehicle as well as several others both CS6 and CS8 vehicles were all built or at least parts ordered in early 2006, all had the CS6 style bumper and grill that I have seen.
If this was not a requirement for some CS8 vehicles this is the first I have ever heard of it as I thought it was only the rear fascia that remained.
I would certainly like some clarification from someone at SAI regarding this issue and if they would register vehicles without the grill and fascia then I will certainly retract any statement I made to the contrary.
The early vehicles also did not have a Shelby / Paxton name plate on the supercharger and I waited and additional three months to ensure I had one with the plate so I'm not sure if yours has the serial plate or not.
Please understand, this vehicle was for sale at a dealership and my information was posted to protect unsuspecting purchasers from buying an item that may not have been complete and was being misrepresented.
I advised the dealership to register the vehicle at SAI which they also told me was not possible when we all know is possible for any completed vehicle.
If this is a completed vehicle to Shelby standards you should have it registered as such with SAI then if there is any question, you have the paperwork to support your efforts.
Hope you enjoy your vehicle and you have a good winter too..
