If you want more engine sound just remove the foam under the dash in the sound tube. That will balance the side exhaust sound when you increase the discs size.

I have removed my tube, it was more to clean up under the hood but I did not hear any real difference.

I also removed the sound tube from my Boss,no real difference in sound.Just cleans up the look of the motor ..Also I am running the 3/4 size discs in the side pipes.Sounds great even with no other mods to the stock exhaust,

Just remove them as i did. It sounds awesome

I've heard them removed... sounds VERY cool, I'd do it in a second. Roger did electrical exhaust cutouts, it's WAY more subtle than you'd think. But NICE.

If you want more engine sound you remove the FOAM inside the tube, Not the tube itself. The foam piece is inside the tube under the dash. Without the tube you will have less intake sound inside the car.

I understand what you are saying with the foam but when I removed the tube I did not hear a noticeable difference. I did it just to clean up the engine bay.

I think I heard more of a difference when I removed all the foam coverings from around and inside the intake. I mainly did that for cooling but the sound was another good side effect.

Antone have some pics and tips for removing the foam in the sound tube? I removed my discs and I love it. My GF would prefer something quieter...

How about these side pipes, they bolt right on. Sound is just right with 5/8" plates .

Pictures of side pipes. The original will bolt right back in to make it original. You can really hear the lopey sound with the red key. This cost $100 bucks @ a muffler shop. Still have the 5/8" plates installed.

Theose look good. Local friend of mine made some short tips (about 4 inches) for the side pipes, same idea but shorter.

Took the exhaust plates off the other day.Now it sounds like a car from the 60's,even some cars from the 70's the way it should sound. Its mellow at idle and when cruising in 5th or 6th. Its only really loud when you accelerate, especially in 1st, 2nd and 3rd. I just don't see the point at all of putting a different size plate in it. This ain't your daddys rambler guys! Its a BOSS....have fun with it,make it sound like it. And if you see a cop, well then just get off the gas or push the clutch in.

I went with 1" holes in mine..........................Perfect! Nice growl, slight gurgle/pop on decel quiet cruising in the car at interstate speeds. Attention grabbing for sure! My car had only 130 miles when I installed them. No loss of fuel economy either, in fact I'm up to 22 mpg now with 400 miles on the ODO, LOVE this car! Btw, Scott is a good dude, ships fast, nicely made product. This way I can "restore" my car back to stock if mandated by LEO's.

I put on the full block out discs yesterday and it makes driving the car around town a lot more enjoyable for my neighbors for miles and miles. I did not put the side pipes back on and just plan to remove the discs for track use and put them back on after..... I have Kooks headers so it's still loud but not so insane and does not set off car alarms anymore
