Good thing about the vinyl stripes, is they're fairly easy to remove and replace with another color if you change your mind.

Agreed!

I was one of those "I buy a $55K car and you put VINYL stripes on it?" kind'a guys at first too.

Then I saw what people are paying/getting to paint a pair of stripes on their cars.

And like you, realized I can change them (color, style, etc) fairly easily.

I want to put a white Super Snake style stripe on my car and if they were painted on, that would be too costly to do.

As it stands now, *I* myself can remove the OE stripes and install the SS stripes, and on the cheap (reletively speaking).

Congratulations on a long ownership list of Mustangs. I have ordered a 2013 Shelby convertible, triple black, stripe delete, performance pack, track pack, recaros, and nav. If time seems to pass too quickly, this is a sure way to slow it down to a crawl while waiting for a summer delivery.

I have a 2011 Kona Blue SVTPP stripe delete and will not ever add the stripes as I do not want to look like every redneck with a GT Mustang in our area. I have never liked stripes on a car even when I had the 3 Corvettes that I had owned. However, a lot of good points have been made regarding the wide stripes but it still does not change my mind. I prefer speed in stealth mode and hope to not attract the state police.

I have seen some really nice cars on this thread with stripes but the white GT500 Stripe delete car posted by stewarbc is truly an awesome looking car. Almost as good as a Kona blue!

We think very much alike. For what its worth, I placed my stripes in a much more appropriate location after taking delivery of the car.

:woot:

SD cars are less likely to attract hordes of gum snapping, zit faced teeny boppers, law enforcement, cell phone yapping left lane gawkers, fleeing ZL1 owners, and gay hitchhikers. :hysterical:

Non-owners are becoming cognizant of their rarity too.

Shelbys are meant to have stripes. But, the choice is yours.

Alot of guys don't like the skinny stripes......but who cares, its your car.

I like Black with the flat black stripes that looks awesome.

Black with no stripes is a bad ass car. It seems like the 2012 GT500's are 75% no stripes.

Go fast stickers just cheapen the car imho. When I see stripes I think "Boy Racer" lol... Plus it wil keep me from buying a used one-----take them off after a couple of years of the car getting UV's everyday and you will see where they were.....

Does it damage the clear coat at all? I am HIGHLY considering getting rid of the stripes and the shelby writing below the ducktail.

Do not like the thin stripes on the 11' and 12' , and do not care for them on the seats....the wide stripes are great, wish they would do a black with gold stripes

Great color and options and remember what EMC -2 means - the faster you go the slower time passes LOL. Remember most GT500 owners live longer that Camaro owners and don't have mullets.

I like the wide stripes, but not the narrow strips on the PP. So I got a PP with stripe delete.

Also was a bit disappointed that the strips were stickers instead of being painted on. For $50K, I would think they would be painted on.

MSRP price for stripes on a 05 Ford GT was $7500 thats why. Now I am not saying that much on a GT500 , but it would take the car off the assembly line and that gets costly.

My vote is no stripes.

Clear bra is difficult to put over stripes.

Many people on the forum complain about stripe problems.

How will they hold up over time?

My opinion is the car looks better without them.

But if you must, I suggest having them painted on.

Good luck!

I already had a clear bra when I had my matte black stripes put on. Putting the clear bra on over the stripes would've made them look glossy, and the stripes are a form of clear bra anyways.

I ordered my car stripe delete for the same reasons mentioned above. I didn't want all the extra attention these plastic vinyl stick-on stripes give off both negative and positive or have to worry about them getting damaged.

I too had an issue with my first set of stripes. Had my local Ford dealer put new stripes under warranty. I saw the car without them and kind of liked it. The problem I have with stripe delete is that it is just another stang. Stripes scream Shelby like them or not. I think the black SGTs do look better though without. My new stripes by the way seem of better quality and have more sparkle in the silver. Looks fantastic in the sun. To each his own!

I have a 2012 svtpp black w/stripe delete and really like it that way. But now, after reading all the posts I'm thinking maybe, just maybe, I would like it with the thin stripes. Maybe the matte black stripes? Sounds interesting.Don't know what they look like though. Going to wait for Mustang week in Myrtle Beach this July and see if anyone else has them on.

I have the 2011 without SVTPP, black matte stripes on black and absolutely love the subtle, stealth look. I like that they're noticeable, but not overly flashy either which gets people to want to get a closer look. My stripes are the wider ones though, but no regrets here at all!

Oh, and with black on black, the seats looks great too since the stripes are black on the leather and really, looks more like an all black seat IMO; so again, subtle just the way I like it.

I agree, looked at a black with matte black stripe looked hard. Almost like ghost stripes!

I'm going to stop by the Ford Dealer today and see how much to add the black matte svt stripes. They said the guy they have there really is excellent at stripping. We'll see.

I called my dealer and had him modify my order and go stripe delete. I figured this car is going to attract enough unwanted attention without the addition of a set of bold "LOOK AT ME" stripes. I can just see me cruising down the freeway and having the stripes attract the attention of a CHP or Sheriffs helicopter from 5 miles away, I might as well put large numbers on the roof to make tracking me easier. Just because I am paranoid, doesn't me they aren't out to get me.
