2013 GT500 at the 2012 New York Auto Show (story about VIN included)

So I went to the 2012 New York International Auto Show today and got to see the 2013 GT500 in person. I guess Ford likes New York because they had the doors unlocked for people to get in and out of the car. Very nice to sit in those Recaros and a shifter with shorter throws.

Now on to the sad news: I know a lot of you guys wanted to see a VIN on this car, but I think due to it being a pre-production car, I looked at the VIN window and it contained no VIN plate on it. I guess we will have to wait until the summer to see it with one.

Nice!! The doors were looked and hood was shut at the one in Vancouver this weekend. Booo!!!

I went Sunday. Ford had the Get to have it Green OPEN and the GT500 OPEN. The School Bus Yellow was Locked. By the end of the NYC Show someone will steal something :drop:

They did last year from the Shelby GT500 Super Snake.

I think the reason the hood was locked is the pre-production, if it's the same one they have been showing had a 5.4 engine in it.

its a dressed up 2012 not a real 2013........the show car is 2013 body panels on a 2012, no 5.8............just the 2012 5.4........

the first real 2013 GT500 was revealed to a small group in LA last week.....

The Red Candy car was also on display at Barrett Jackson Scottsdale in January. Jim Owens was actually giving "pony" rides on the track in parking lot.

The car and the color in person was enough for me to plan to get one. I will wait for the hype to die down and go see Manny @ Gaudin Ford!

Yup I have to agree that was a fun time at Barrett-Jackson. And like others have said, the candy red paint is awesome. And this comes from someone who is not particularly fond of red cars.

Wait so if those are 12's disguised as 13's does that mean the real 13 coupe won't have illuminated door sills?

Wow Michael...I didnt know.....I wasnt at Barrett Jackson, please share your impressions from having had the ride in the new 2013 GT500.....
