Technically its a warranty tag so its not "illegal" to have reproduced but I do find it interesting that Kevin Marti does NOT require proof of ownership and seems to be willing to stamp any codes the buyer wants on these plaques.
If Martiworks has the factory build records why doesn't he use them to create an identical replacement plaque and not a plaque that buyer decides what option codes they want shown.
And then of course you have to consider how many sellers will disclose the reproduction tag? And even if they do what about the next seller? Will they disclose a reproduction tag?
A very slippert slope.
Steve

I agree Steve, further reinforces my belief in absolute documentation of any potential purchase where it matters if the car is fctory correct.
I also got to wonder how ones tag gets to that point one of my cars is a 1956 and the tag still looks fine. It sat outside for a decade in Washington weather.
Not dissing your friends car Testgt350, just a generl observation.

The legal battles are amusing to say the least such a drag if you get caught in that scene.

The Original Tag was removed for a complete Repaint a couple Years ago and the Body Man at the Body Shop either lost it or kept it and the owner of the Car never noticed that it was missing until two Days ago. I am glad that a replacement was able to be purchased. This Car has the VIN # stamped on the Radiator Support about 6 inches to the Right of center. I never seen that before, but at least we know the Car has never been wrecked in the front.

ALSO, I have owned close to 200 Vehicles with most being Mustangs and you would be suprised at how many of them (1964-69) were missing the Door Tag. Either from a Body Shop replacing the Door and NOT puting the Original Door Tag on the New Door or by the Body Shop Guy losing it. In 1970, Food switched to a two piece Decal and most of the 1970-73 Mustangs that I owned, the Decal was unreadable and needed replacing. I have a spare two piece Decal that is blank that I purchased for a 72 Mach 1 about 25 Years ago and never used. Believe me, if you ever need one, you will be glad that Marti has them. There is always going to be someone out there that is set on doing wrong but some of us can be trusted. I am glad that Marti has them and can stamp them. A guy in Texas is interested in the Car and said that he cant title the Car with out that Tag.
