Well that is pretty much how I guessed the poll would go. Majority by a slim margin go to the 40-49 year olds and a close second goes to the baby boomers 50-59. I was surprised to see 7 woman so far, but not in a negative way. Any analysts here with a theory? Of course mid life crisis plays a small part but I honestly believe growing up in the 60's and 70's without being able to afford a "Shelby" and always wanting one is a big part of it. Just my .02 cents......

You could sure be right.  From the 60s era everybody had muscle cars and I always wanted one, too!  When I was first married we had a 68 GTO but family took pecedence and got a car with ac, etc.  I do let the hubby drive sometimes but this is MY car!

Let her know girls weekend away is not the same without a GT500.   LOL

I bought mine, too.  Being a farm girl I am not afraid of the power or the manual transmission!  I would like to go to the Bonderanut School however.  You can always learn.

I highly encourage the Bondurant school.  I did the 4 day class literally a year ago (plus a few weeks).  The down side is you have to drive Corvettes.    The great thing of the 4 day class is you get to drive these really awesome Formula Mazda race cars and it all comes together.

I was going to do the advanced class the days before the 50th.  In the advanced class you can drive your own car.  I really wanted to get the GT out with some instruction before the bash but just couldn't get the thing for a week put together.

Do the class but do the 3 or 4 day class as you will get the most out of it.
Cheers,
Tony

I have a friend that recently went (he does drive corvettes) and said it was awesome-had pictures of the people when the vans were on the track and they looked scared to death!  To attend that school is definitely on the bucket list!

I just purchased my 2012 GT 500 a few weeks ago - can finally afford the insurance at 40!  I fell for Shelby years ago but we just connected!  Glad to see fellow ladies on the boards.

Nice to have you!  It would be cool to all get together at a bash in the future.  We will have to work on that.  :yahoo:

Verlyn thanks for the warm welcome!   If you are ever on the southern NC coast let me know and we can meet up.
I finally finished tricking out "Charlotte" with some new body adds and I posted her photos.  Well, I guess I am not really finished,  just for now though ;-)

WJinLV,  Yeah for you on your 2013 model!  What color did you order - give us the scoop.  Can't wait to see her!

I've always been a fan of the Ford Mustang, in general, the Shelby Mustangs in particular! My "lottery car", or the car I would immediately go out and purchase if I ever won a substantial amount of money was always a 1968 Shelby GT500KR, white with blue stripes. Well, I never won the lottery, and I never, in my wildest dreams ever thought that a new, modern version of the Shelby GT500 would be built by Ford, Shelby, or anyone else! It took quite a bit of doing, but now I am the proud owner of a 2011 Shelby GT500, black with silver stripes, and at the age of 58, I feel that I have finally aquired the Holy Grail of Mustangs, and I can die a very happy man, but hopefully, not before I get to put some serious drive time on this wonderful car!
Nice to meet you, my name is Jim!

Hey guys, just joined today. I'm a 37 y.o male so I'm on the younger side of the median. I was able to cut some years as I never got married (or more importantly not get divorced) with no children allowing me to save some money for only myself. I ordered mine over this weekend: grabber blue/black, SVT Performance Pkg, Electronics Pkg, Hey folks, and glass roof.

Haha this is just awesome. I'm 24 and i really was wondering exactly who drives these cars. My dad and I just had a pretty in depth discussion about this last night. Glad I ran into this one.

Lol in response to the guy asking about how do 18-25 year olds afford such a car... I went to college, got a degree in Engineering, now i work in the oil field in the Gulf of Mexico. Bought the car with 20k down, financed the other 35k, 8 months after school. No cosigner, and insurance honestly isnt bad, about $130 a month.
