Bet you had that back, a little Barrett-Jackson action

I think of that every time the Barrett- Jackson auction is on the tube.  :banghead:

The car was from Austin Texas, it had 38,000 original miles it was forest green with white stripes.

It was only painted once, the rest was factory original, I sold it for 15,000 in 1988 to a guy from Ontario he raced it and banged it up twice.

the last I herd he sold it to a guy from Boston thats the last I ever herd of it.

I'll post a pic of it tomorow.

Hit the nail on the head  :banana piano:

Baby boomer here who grew up driving all those muscle cars and have always loved cars since I was big enough to "help" my Dad work on the family cars that are some of today's classics!   Have loved Mustangs since my best friend's Dad drove their new (novelty 2nd family car in those days) 1965 coupe home from work one hot summer day back in 1965.  The first car I bought was my 1969 Mach 1 when I got my first real job and he is still in my garage.  Now with all my kids almost out of the house and off the payroll, I wasn't gonna miss the Shelby this time around!  Passed on the muscle care fever to my Hubbs and daughter but they went to the darkside  :hysterical2:

As one of the many baby boomers, I grew up around all of those muscle cars -- I loved them.  When I was 17, I was all set to buy a 68 Mustang from the guy down the street with my own money.  Unfortunately my mom stepped in and nixed the deal.  She said that a mustang was not an appropriate car for a 17-year-old girl.  Naturally, I did not share her opinion (it was my money after all).  The thing that amazes me the most now is that I obeyed her and took my money and bought a new Honda 600 sedan instead (which in 1972 wasn't a bad deal because of the oil embargo).  The Honda wasn't fast (30 hp, top speed of 70) but it got 50 mpg!

After a construction fence fell on my car and took out the paint on the entire left side, I had Ghost Flames
(Tangerine Candy over Metalic Gold Pearl) painted on the hood, front fenders and doors.  After incident with deer, rainbow flake was added to gold pearl, the flames appear to flicker -- very cool!

I find this survey very interesting.  The general concensus is that the majority of GT500 owners are the baby boomers and that is the main reason for its success, the high demand, and thus ADM.  The theory goes that when we (baby boomers) die off, the desire for the Shelby brand will go with us.  Almost 57% of those taking the survey either were not born yet or they were toddlers when the Shelby came out and was in its hayday.  By the time you folks were of driving age, the price of the Shelby was already way out of reach.  I guess a question to the youngsters is, "Why did you buy and where do you think the brand will be in another 40 years?".

Not me, I got tired of working on the ark. Bang bang bang all day long. Have you ever had to put up with monkeys? I can tell you it sucks. Besides I ran out of wood and it hasn't rain here in years. So I decided to just by a car and a trailer. :yup:

My wife says the Corvette is still THE mid-life crisis car. Since Corvettes, Porsches, etc.. are not really muscle cars like a Shelby Mustang I think the 40-something Shelby owners are just the generation that always wanted a Shelby Mustang and not seeking something to satisfy their mid-life crisis. But I might be full of crap. I did order a Mustang from the factory when I was 21 years old. That was a crisis to gain a little speed and performance from Ford without paying the high cost of some foreign car.

I think the Super Snake Package might be the mid-life crisis?
