I recently got a black 2007 SGT and found out one of my neighbors happens to also be a Shelby freak. As soon as he saw mine he started in explaining how he's been shopping for one for several weeks and the local one he just looked at. This, of course, led him to ask me about prices on them.

Seems he found a blue 2008 SGT on Craigslist and asked my advice on the value since I had just bought mine. The problem is the car he wants is a year newer and lower miles. The 2008 he's looking at has only 15K mikes on it and has had 2 owners. It has some road rash on one wheel but otherwise is supposed to look like no paintwork/accidents/wear. The seller's asking $26,500 for it.

I explained that mine has more miles at 23K, was a one owner car and also had no accidents/paint work. It did have some minor cosmetic blemishes to correct since it had been a daily driver for the last year the original owner had it. Still its a nice clean car overall that I paid $22,500 for.

Anyway, what should my neighbor offer on the blue 2008 SGT in todays market? I was thinking around $25K or so but I thought I'd ask those with the expertise
here for advice. Thanks in advance.

Mid to low 20's is a fair price for both. Lower miles would bring high 20's. An 08 blue vert went for over 30 on EBay recently I believe. And low mileage GT-H s are high 30's. An SGT as a daily driver? I love mine, but I am too old for that! My GT500 was a good "cruiser" though.

Yeah, the SGT I bought had become a daily driver by default. The previous owner had fallen on hard times and rather than selling his paid for Shelby off he sold his financed F150. The problem was, the Shelby had less than 10,000 miles on it but climbed to over 20K in less than a year so he finally decided to sell it for a cheaper driver.

Thanks for the input on pricing. I thought I had a pretty good handle on values but sometimes when people buy things they rationalize to themselves what they think the value of something is rather than what it actually is. My neighbor, for example, seems very emotional about buying one of these cars so outside feedback will really help.

$25,000 is a reasonable price to start at for an SGT with around 15,000 miles. Convertibles are around $7,000 higher. The year, color and transmission can affect the price also.

Well, my neighbor didn't get that blue SGT. He said he offered $25K and the seller just blew him off. He then bumped his offer to $25.5K but the
seller said he's firm on $26.5K. My neighbor said he really liked the car and was tempted to pay that but the seller's attitude turned him off.

So he's still searching. He told me he's heading up north to look at an 07 GT500 this weekend.

I called them up - the car sold last night - another example of the dealership not knowing what they had - He was sick when I told him. Someone got a great deal!

Whats even scarier is how much did this Chrysler dealership give the owner for it as a trade-in if they were willing to sell the SGT for $20k

I still work for a large dealership group. (Not in sales thankfully but in parts.) They would have been looking at making an average of $3K profit after they put the car into their floorplan and doing any recon it needed . Now they could have been trying to blow it out of their inventory at that price but that dealer likely didn't pay the prior owner anymore than $16-17K for that Shelby.

If you have to have NEW then that doesn't sound bad, probably not too many left new at this point. You could get VERY low miles for quite a bit less though

Once you drive it off the lot it's $25K-$27K car then you have to decide drive it or not. Most people drive em. I would go for a used low miles one and forget new. I sold a 2008 Shelby GT conv ( no mods ) with 11K miles for $32K last week. I owned it for less than 3 months and made a little on it. A guy @ a cruise night wanted to buy it so as they say " money talks nobody walks ".

After babying my SGT for over 5years, stored in doors from November to April every year... My girlfrind dented the fender. Broke my heart aft not having a scratch or a door ding for all this time. So, I recently came to conclusion it's time to give up my Black SGT with an Auto, to buy a new 5.0. As you may well imagine I nearly dropped a log when the trade in value came back. Hell one dealer didn't know what a SGT was and thought I modded the car out my self. LOL!

Bottom line if any one is interested in a 2007 Shelby GT with an auto, Shaker 1000, 50K miles, in great shape saved for a dent in the passenger front fender, that I am told can be banged out, the price is $ 15K firm, or I will be soon trading it in the the high way robbers

Wow, is $15K really all the dealer would allow for trade on a new 5.0 Mustang?

Even with 50K miles on it it your SGT should be worth more. Unless my research is really faulty, when I was buying one, it seemed an 07 SGT should be worth around the $18-20K (retail price) for one with 50K miles if its a nice clean car. But then maybe the market is a lot worse than I thought.

BTW-If you can have a paintless dent removal repair of the front fender done (some PDR guys are really talented at that) you wouldn't have much in repairing it.

Well I struck a deal today. $15,300 from the dealer for trade in, plus 5K from the ins company equals 20,300 to put down on the 5.0 that I pick up tomorrow....

I am excited about my new, but I am sad because I am no longer a Shelby owner.........

I gain 100 HP but I lose my identity. )c:

Bummer.

I would've taken what you spent "extra" on the 5.0 and blown the SGT... JMHO

Well I struck a deal today. $15,300 from the dealer for trade in, plus 5K from the ins company equals 20,300 to put down on the 5.0 that I pick up tomorrow....

I am excited about my new, but I am sad because I am no longer a Shelby owner.........

So I assume that the fender dent wasn't a PDR type of repair if the insurance estimate came in at $5K?
That makes me feel better as it means I didn't misjudge the values all that much.
