We expect to have it announced soon. It won't be a long wait, just please understand that I - as a principle - do not "announce" things that aren't available.
So, the day you see the announcement, you can buy it. Building a widebody car in-house is complete. Now we need to work out packaging, pricing, and all the parts and documentation that make it a viable KIT we can sell and ship for others to install.

UPDATE: GT/SC upgrade completed at SAI on July 22, 2011.

If I was to buy just the rear kit and have it installed at the Shelby facilities, how long would you need my car to complete it?  days? weeks?.....

That's the price for an INSTALLED Widebody option at Shelby, and includes everything, all four corners with wheels and tires.
The "kits" we will sell for users to install have not been priced yet. They will be announced within the next few weeks.

Guys, do yourself a favor. If you are one of those that are considering the Wide Body Kit (installed or piece meal) go to Las Vegas and look at the car in person.

Jer is right, "Pictures don't do this kit justice". But unfortunately, IN MY CASE, "justice" isn't the word I'd use.

Each of us has our own likes and dislikes and I happen to be one of those fella's who really really REALLY *DISLIKES* that WB kit.

IN MY OPINION, it is BUTT UGLY. If you are near my age, you've seen something similar in the past.  (t is *very* reminiscent of the old "Trans-Am" Body Kits people used to put on their cars in the 70's or 80's to make them look like the Trans-Am race cars of that era but unlike the old TA kits and the Galpin Ford Wide Body car, the front and rear don't "join". You have the real wide rear fenders, then the body narrows down into the (standard) narrow section where the doors are and then back to the wide front fenders.

And I personally didn't like the rear wheels with the extreme 'lip' on them. I'm assuming a person could get their own wheels and clean up that part of it but you may like that look....I DO NOT.

A RT trip airplane ticket to Vegas would be fairly cheap relative to what is being rumored here as the price for a WB kit and it could be money well spent IF YOU FEEL THE SAME WAY I DO about the look of it.

Who knows, you may fall madly in love with it like some others here apparently have but either way, you really should do yourself a favor see it IN PERSON before plunking down a pretty sizable chunk of change only to find out it was one of, if not THE biggest mistake you've made in your life...

And again, pictures DO NOT CAPTURE the true look of it. No where near the true look. My opinion took a full 180d turn when I saw the car IRL.

Personally, IN THE PHOTOS, I like the Galpin WB much better. BUT, in all fairness, I haven't seen THAT ONE in person yet either.

I liked the car/s in photos. I can't say I LOVED the car in photos but I did have a positive reaction to it when I first saw it in pics.

Then when I saw it in person (and my wife did too) I completely changed my mind.

Again, I think if it were a actual wide BODY car (as opposed to a wide FENDER/S car) I'd probably like it. The rear end of the car just looks WAYYYYY too fat and it is pronounced with the standard width of the body just ahead of the rear fenders from the rear of the door (i.e. B-pillar) to the front of the door (i.e. A-pillar).

The best description I can come up with is, it looks "cartoonish". The Galpin Wide body car continues the 'wideness' with the use of a door skin that ties the front/rear wide fenders together.

I also have to be totally fair and tell you all that I was NOT able to get a "rearview" of it standing behind the car because it is backed up against the rear wall of the museum and i don't think they would have appreciated me crossing the velvet ropes just to see what it looks like in the rear.

I also was able to see the new 2013 Super Snake with their new wheels and my dislike for them didn't improve one iota. I'd like to see a 'polished version' before making a final decision on the new wheels but at this point, I proclaim them a epic fail. With the obvious ability of Shelby to get Alcoa Dura-bright wheels produced, I'd advise SA to continue using them until something else can be designed. And I DO understand the need for a new/different on the 2013 SS. The Alcoa has been used from the onset of the SS program (as far as *I* know) and just like with OE wheels, one MUST change up to keep up. 6 years is a long time to utilize one type of wheel on their bread and butter offering and like I've always said, "Don't resist change, it will happen without you". Shelby MUST change or risk becoming stagnant (Note how Roush has changed his packages over time).


And as always, IN MY HONEST (or Humble) OPINION (IMHO)...And you know what they say about opinions!

Well, different strokes for different folks.
The reaction to the widebody option (notice, it's an "option") has been overwhelmingly positive. Frankly, I am amazed at the long line of customers who have already ordered this option, one whole garage wall is lined up with waiting cars, and more on the way. Our kit is very different from Galpin's in many ways (design, construction, and certainly PRICE) and we are happy to be able to offer something different for those who want it. The "Coke bottle" effect that Phill alludes to actually recalls the shape of the IMSA-series cars of old, and is a muscular look to some, fat to others. If we design a product that polarizes people, that's OK. That's how we know we're taking chances, and not just making thousands of the same 2007 Super Snakes every year, right?

At least all those drivers with poor technique can now have 345 rear tires and can stop complaining "my car won't hook up".   :hysterical3:

Anyone who would like to see the 2005-2009 version of this kit can stop by and visit me Friday or Saturday at Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale next month. I'll have the black car with me.
