Hooray!

In VERY UNFord-like fashion, it appears whatever wiring and smarts infrastructure the GT's with the Comfort/Convenience Package requires to make the Pony Projector Puddle Lamps functional seems to be in-place and ready-to-go from the factory with the 2013 GT500.

It took merely swapping out the mirror housings and connecting the 7-pin connector found on 2012 and newer vehicles (versus the 3-pin connector for 2011 and earlier) and BINGO!  100% functional as intended with the remote locks and door handle pull.

I have no idea if this is the case with 2012 GT500's despite the 7-pin housing as the 2012 BCM didn't know of the PPPL's existence.  Buy that's not to say it won't work - or using the quick fix others have reported of wiring to the map/done light circuit up the A Pillar wouldn't offer a 95% solution for another half-hour's work.

I also took the opportunity to swap-out the mirror covers - going with the Race Red accent rather than the OE body color (Performance White).

Not bad for less than $300 and 20 minutes - covers and all.

If that's the case, I can see some vendor coming out with lens with different graphics.
I wonder if the wiring for the heated mirrors is also present?

Part Numbers Pics?

The most important thing for anybody who's considering this to remember is buying the projection element costs about $70 each and will require all sorts of clever Dremel and gluing with no assurance of exact alignment to project in the image the proper place AND in focus.

Most of the DIY summaries I've read so far seem to have ignored replacing the entire mirror assembly with a pre-installed projection element for about $120 each - money VERY well spent, IMO.

Dunno.  Though some investigative work done on my behalf yielded only two wiring schematics - one for the 7-pin and the other for the 3-pin.  I'd suggest there's reason to be hopeful on the '13s at least, but this is Ford we're talking about where you'll never find just one type of wiring harness when it can justify two.  The '13 GT500 being good to go out of the box is just dumb luck - which I'll take ANY day.

Holy Cow.  The covers themselves weigh only an once or so and even the entire unit weighs don't weigh more than a pound or two at most.  Are you hoping to be able to park your car on one of its mirrors someday?  How did you make the CF shiny enough to become reflective?

I think we are perfectly capable of looking up parts on the internet, we ask you what parts because you SHOULD already know and it should just be easy to tell us.. You don't have to be so arrogant.. Don't fret I'll figure it out myself.

A picture is worth a thousand words. When you talked about the red mirror caps, I wasn't sure how it would look, but after seeing it I must say it's a pretty cool looking set up. The car looks completely custom, but with an OEM look to it which is pretty impressive

How do you spell www.fordparts.com? You mention fishing, can I get fishing gear there too?

Thanks.  I still have the OE white ones and even a couple pairs of textured black ones in case it didn't look as good on the car as it did in my head.  It's really unfortunate - a lot of cap installation write-ups are really half-assed and usually wind-up with people breaking-off the key tab that locks them in-place.

It was VERY good to have a set of mirrors WITHOUT the caps installed, AND the caps themselves - it takes only a very thin flat blade screwdriver to release the locking tab to remove the OE cover (and presumably reuse them versus obtaining painted replacements) without needing to have another set painted.

The '12 is next to see whether the PPL's work as equally seamlessly on them or if I need to rig-up some supplementary wiring as others have done.  I s'pose I have two sets of mirrors ready for the eBay aftermarket now.

Since you preferred to ask me to dig up the information despite being so perfectly capable yourself, I'll just chalk the whole thing up to laziness.  Knowing you're all squared-away, hopefully at least one person who stumbles across this thread in the future will discover a great resource for helping themselves.
