Oh yea, I will also say that the original selling dealer, Galpin Ford, totally f'd up my car before selling it by putting these stripes on.  They didn't even get the right size (10") and the center spacing is all over the place up and down the car, too.  it also appears that they possibly tried to clear coat the stripes which caused most of the issues you see now.  What a shame.

I would strongly advise NOT to go with the vinyl route.  Research how many people have redone their stripes on the SGTs and Hertz cars MULTIPLE times in a very short time frame.  Your car is already being repaired from original - might as well do it better and have the stripes painted on.  I doubt it will cost significantly more than the vinyl but will last a whole lot longer and be much more enjoyable to own and maintain.  Despite what some may think, I also believe that if done well it will enhance the resale value  of your car down the road.  Afterall, how many $100K++++ 60's era Shelbys are being restored with clear coat paint jobs and cleared over stripes.  Doesn't seem to hurt the value one bit, but rather enhances it.

I must agree.  What you are doing to the car you may just want to paint them on and forget the tape.

If you are indeed KEEPING your rocker vinyl, I would suggest cleaning it up as best you can and color matching to that if you believe it is in good enough original condition.  Are you certain your rocker striping is original?

I am not totally sure of that they are going to shoot a test panel. No one really has a mixing scanner that I can find plus the original stripes aren't in the greatest shape
