NOT TRUE ! You need to understand what scrub radius is for 1 and what causes wander .

Ewww, gosh... are we really going to get into that?

No, I gave them the tires sizes I wanted to use and they told me whether or not they could build a wheel to fit that under the car. The 315 in the rear aren't going to be a problem. They were not willing to say I could use the 285 in the front and recommended a 275, but I'm hoping I can get the 285 to clear. It is going to be very close from all the stuff I've looked at and may come down to a few millimeters in clearance when done. They were willing to build the front wheels with a few more millimeters in backspacing, but said if the tires rubbed the outer fender lips that it would be my problem.

Hmmm so I was thinking a 295 315 combo when I decide to go wider but then after seeing this I'm guessing a 295 would have major problems being in the front?

Are you referring to mid - engine or rear mounted engine cars when you say " other brands" (like your beloved Porsche or K car)? (here we go AGAIN)

Well "here we go again" you have no one to blame but yourself with that remark your just trying to bait me but I won't bite. But if you want a front engine example well the new viper is 295 front and 355 rear. The c6rs by pratt and miller is I believe the same. Though I don't think any amount of modifying would allow us to put a 355 on the rear of a shelby without that wide body kit. I'm just wondering why those 2 cars along with other brands have such a huge gap between front and rear tire size when cars like the zl1, zr1, shelby, and GTR don't. If its because it creates understeer thats fine but a lot of those cars like the viper or c6rs don't have that huge understeer problem so I'm wondering how they fix that.

I personally would like a neutral handling car with maybe a tad of understeer for safety purposes.

295 will not fit, unless you use a offset strut assembly with a smaller diameter wheel/tire combo

The reason other manufactures can get away with offset tire sizes front to rear is they engineered the car to handle properly with this offset in tire sizes. One of the things that the suspension mods I did was to significantly lower the rear roll center. By doing this I was able to remove the rear anti-roll bar while still keeping a neutral handling car. Now as I increase rear tire size I can install an anti-roll bar on the rear of the car to adjust the unbalance that the offset tires will create. I also have an adjustable bar on the front that will allow me to fine tune it. This is similar to what the car manufactures do

hmmmmm. The only thing I have that will be adjustable is my front sway bar. Steeda has a 31mm rear bar thats adjustable but I thought thats way way too thick on the rear and will create way too much oversteer. Though maybe I could balance it out with a crazy ass tire combo like 265 front 315 rear though I don't want to play the R&D game with my car.

Maybe I'll just stick with a 295 in the rear on the alcoas if I can get away with it. Some say 295/30 works but I'm still waiting for someone with a 295/35 michelin PSS to talk about it.

Only real downside is that 285's will probably want to wander quite a bit.... they'll bite every little pucker and undulation in the road. Daily driving just becomes more work... worth it? Probably.

For what its worth, I ran a pair of stock size 285's up front for a while. No wander and no more effort than stock.

It is but still it feels like it was built with compromise and penny pinching and stuff like that when compared to say other cars only 20k higher. Plus I don't like how ford splits the benefits across all the lines. The shelby is the halo car everything in the shelby should be fords best stuff from all their brands.

That means the gt shouldn't have LED fogs and the shelby doesn't. The other engines shouldn't have TI-VCT and be more sophisticated and the shelby a 6 year old motor dumped into it for cost purposes. Kind of like how the ZL1 has all the best stuff GM has to offer with the exception of the ZR1 engine because then they couldn't sell it for 55k.

It should have my ford touch, push button start, manley rods, IRS or at least stock watts link, etc etc. All of these things from the factory would cost ford hardly anything extra and they would make it all back by charging all of us 500-2000 or so more dollars. So thats why I have to put it all these things on myself, or at least the ones I can put on. I mean some people think this is fine and thats perfectly ok. Others want to change it or customize to what they want.

But anyways this is all off topic. I am excited to see these wheels mounted on mr hanleys car. I'm eventually going to have to see this car in person being as how he is only 35-40 minutes from me when I have time and am up for the drive and not feeling lazy. I wanna see how this car drives compared to mine since he went a different route than the traditional route.

mr.haney, were you offered offset options?

I received an email from ADV last night with the offsets. 48 in the front and 58 in the rear. They also said that the wheels were done, but needed to go through QC. As soon as they passed QC which they thought would be today they will email me pictures and the final weight before shipping them

What model wheel is that? You mentioned 10.01SL in your first post, but it doesn't look like any of the 10 series wheels on ADV.1's website.

It is a new design and is a variant of the 10.1SL that is named 10.01SL. The SL stand for Super Light Series which means they removed as much weight as possible from the wheel for the application the wheel will be installed on. This wheel from my understanding was released earlier this year and isn't listed on the ADV under the model number for you to look it up under. The only way I found out about it, was by looking at the many pictures on the ADV website. I found a number of pictures of a red Ferrari F430 on ADV website with these wheels listing the model as a 10.01SL. This is the only car showing this wheel on the ADV website and the only reference to this model number wheel on the website. From what I've been told by ADV my set of 10.01SLs is the only set ADV has built for a Mustang application at this time. Here is the link to the photos and the only reference to this wheel on ADV's website

http://www.adv1wheel...0-adv10-01sl-1/

Edit: After following the link I posted of the pictures to see if it worked properly, I see ADV has added the model to the column on the right side of the page. This is the first time I've seen a listing for this wheel on their website

You're welcome. I hope to have them on the car before Christmas with pictures to follow soon after. They were supposed to ship them last Friday, but didn't get them done. They think they will ship them by the end of this week. As soon as they get through QC they are supposed to weigh each wheel and email the finished weights. I'll post them as soon as I know.

Btw I wondered since you live next to me your driving in the same weather as me, are you putting winter tires on your car? Or are you going to stop driving when it starts snowing? Also how are you going to calibrate the speedometer? Dealer doing it?

My car will go into hibernation shortly for the winter. I want to run it down to Florida in the next two weeks, but after that I doubt it will get driven much until April. I already installed a battery tender on the car preparing for the winter.

You've never driven a high Hp vehicle in the snow before from your posts, take this from someone that has. It will not matter what type of tires you have on this car, as it will become dangerous to drive in any type of snow or icy conditions with the power and torque it produces. I would highly suggest if the winter weather forecast is calling for the slightest possibility of snow/sleet or freezing rain in the afternoon that you use another method to get to work that morning. Because if it starts snowing/sleeting or freezing rain before you can get home with this car, you will be stranded and will more than likely will have to abandon the car somewhere until the roads are cleared. I've spent way too many years and miles circling the beltway in a tractor trailer watching people abandon their high performance cars that should have never left the garage that morning in the first place due to the winter weather.

I'll let the dealer calibrate the PMC for the tire size difference. I don't plan on changing the sizes after this, so it will be a one time deal. I probably will change the gear set to 3.73 and will let them do it then.

Yea I never planned to drive it in the snow. The winter tires are strictly for cold driving

EDIT: another thing I wonder about is what do all the people who buy v6/v8 camaros and mustangs do during winter around here? Same with all the c class mercedes and bmw 3 series. All of them are all rear wheel drive but they all drive in the snow. As far as other people with performance cars I don't think those people are switching to winter tires.

Man you guys are rough on a fellow. I just got back with the new wheels and tires installed this evening from Miami FL. I ridden the ole girl hard(2500 miles) in the last three days and she is very dirty and not worthy of taking pictures at the moment.

I will give you this much.

The 285/35/20 front tire, along with the 315/35/20 rear tire fill every bit of available space in each of the respective wheel wells. The 285s do fit even with Kenny Brown's suspension kit moving the front tires forward on the car. Anybody thinking of using 315s will need to have the molded sound deadening fabric removed from the wheel house to keep it from rubbing. You will also need an adjustable panhard rod, whether the car is a stock or a modified suspension to center the rear axle perfectly under the body for the tires not to rub.

ADV never weighed the wheels, so I have no idea how much they do weigh. I'll say this I did pick up the 10 x 20 wheel before they mounted the tire.........it was light in my opinion.

I weighed the tires and wheel after it was mounted

285/35/20 Michelin Pilot Super Sport with the wheels weighs 56.1 lbs

315/35/20 Michelin Pilot Super Sport with the wheels weighs 60.51 lbs

I don't have the stock wheel/tire combos weights at the moment to compare this info too, but I will in a week or two.

I'll get pictures as soon as I can clean the car up. You may also find some on Wheels Boutique website as they had a photographer take over a 100 pictures of the car yesterday afternoon after they mounted the wheels and tires on the car.
