My 2009 GT500 didn't start,  I was told the battery is dead.  The car was always on a Battery Tender.  Ford wants to charge me $275 for a new battery.  It just went out of the factory warranty by 12 days and only has 3500miles.  I purchased the extended warranty.   See if I buy another Ford.

I have gotten 3 years, I have gotten 7 years out of batteries. Battery tenders do not account for checking the water level. Both will make a battery last longer.

The batteries cost $275? Is this the only car in the world that uses this battery?

I paid a little over $100 for a new Motorcraft BXT-40R battery 2 years ago; didn't think they could go up in price by that much.

I just bought two 100 month Motorcraft batteries from my local Ford dealer, these were for my 95 Power Stroke F-250 and they cost me about $100 ea plus tax.

Yeah, about a hundred bucks around here. Or you can wait for Amazon to put the yellow top Optima on sale for $147 and free shipping.

Kidding about?  $ is what the dealer told me, for $100 I wouldn't care.  As for checking the water level I believe they are sealed non servicable.   When the car wasn't run it was disconnected.  It just went out of factory warranty by 12 days.

Mine wasn't sealed - I was able to add water to it. I have a 2010.

The dealer told you the battery was dead? What does your battery tender show?
It just seems odd that your battery would die so soon.
Did you jump start it and drive it to the dealer? Or was this an over the phone conversation?

I had a buddy with a one year old battery that wouldn't take a charge.
I lent him my smart charger and it brought it back from the dead to 100% in a couple of days.
It may have been due to internal sulfication issues, that it would not take a charge with a standard charger.
A dealership should know that, but who knows what they did, I like to check things out myself.

I know first hand that these chargers work very well, I usually have 3 or 4 seasonal automotive batteries on the go, including a large marine battery.

I've been storing cars for 25 years. If the battery isn't used much, like yours, it won't last long. It lasted you 4 years. Everyone knows that wearable items like brake pads, maintenance and batteries aren't covered by warranties. Just go get another one.

I thought you were kidding when you said the dealer wanted to charge you $250 dollars for a battery. Tell him to pound sand. As for warranty....out of warranty is.....out of warranty.

Sorry for your troubles. Mine left me stranded in a parking lot for a few hours. Had to have a service truck bring me a battery.

My 2009 did the same thing in June, you can get the same battery at auto zone for a 100 bucks just peel the
label off it look's just like the Motorcraft.

I called the Ford dealership that I have a service history with.  For some reason they were able to replace my battery for a $25.00 deductible.  The service manager told me that there is "some kind of program offered by Ford."  Not sure what its exactly called, but they were the only dealership that did this for me.  They have my BUSINESS.

Soooo let me get this straight.. your saying you won't buy another ford because they wouldn't replace an out of warranty maintenance item for free? Wow. Most mfg warranties don't even cover batteries for the full 3/36 be happy ford even does that.. most mfgs only cover batteries for 1 or 2 years.
