Really?  When did they stop?  I saw forums from last fall talking about widening them through weldcraft.

Weldcraft doesn't widen Alcoa's anymore.  Eric Vaughn Machine is about the only choice now.

Iceman beat me to the punch. Weldcraft stopped widening the Alcoa's in particular after they biffed a couple and couldn't get replacements for them.

Eric Vaughn is your man. Something like $660 to widen a PAIR. But he does it different than WC did. WC cut your rim near the inside, added a piece the width you wanted widend and welded (two welds) it into the center of the wheel using your inner and outer piece.

EV cuts the inside lip off, gets another inside lip the amount wider that you want and welds it (ONE weld) to the outter part.

EV's method is better IMO and he hasn't had any out of round wheels like Weldcraft ended up with (two that I know of).

I don't know what WC charged but $330 per wheel doesn't sound TOO bad to me, at least not for the way he does it (uses another/2nd wheel for the inside portion).

Yea seems like Eric is the way to go now.  I like his process as well.   Should allow for much better roundness or "trueness" of the finished product since only one weld needs to be aligned not two.  Now just need to decide on width...either 11.5 or 11.75.

If I were having wheels widened, there is only one phone call to make and that would be to Eric Vaughn. Top notch workmanship.

I read another post this morning that the price has gone up to $350 per wheel through Eric. Thats going to make this a pretty expensive set of wheels by the time they are ready for tires.

Yep, that is the cost now, but his work is top notch.   Weldcraft actually stopped doing Alcoa's in November 2011.  I have had lots of wheels done by both, and while Weldcraft is cheaper, I prefer the work of EVM.

As soon as mine get here a pair of the 9's are going to him for widening. I ended up only being able to get 4 9's this morning so 9's in the front and 11's in the rear. Id love to go wider but I am lowered on FRPP springs and don't really want to go trimming around the rear for only a little bit more tire.

There are quite a few going to 11.75 without having to trim.  They only had to remove the dust cover on the shock.  I'm going to 11.5" in the hopes of getting a 295/35 tucked back there.  I know the 295/35 doesn't fit with FR springs on a 10" wheel but that is with quite a bit of bulge hitting the fender lip from what I read on aclass.  So I'm thinking the extra 1.5" will pull the tire back away from the fender lip.

Backup plan is to go 305/30 in back and then 255/35 up front.
