I honestly hope that it has advancements like the New Corvette.  GM improved their Corvette latest Model 100% with Euro Styling. Along with the newer and sharper looks on the outside, and the much improved cabin on the inside over the C7's predecessors, both in terms of styling and in terms of quality of materials, CR's tester points out the new model's agility, direct handling and the fiery V8 engine.

I am not here just to praise the New Corvette, because there are Corvette Owners and Shelby Owners.  Having said that I would hope that the New Shelby would have some "Vast" improvements in Styling, Interior, Fit and Finish, and some things that a $60,000 Plus Car Should have for that kind of money.

  • An interior that includes real carbon fiber, aluminum and hand-wrapped leather materials, two new seat choices – each featuring a lightweight magnesium frame for exceptional support – and dual eight-inch configurable driver/infotainment screens.
  • Advanced driver technologies, including a five-position Drive Mode Selector that tailors 12 vehicle attributes to the fit the driver’s environment and a new seven-speed manual transmission with Active Rev Matching that anticipates gear selections and matches engine speed for perfect shifts every time.
  • An all-new 6.2L LT1 V-8 engine combines advanced technologies, including direct injection, Active Fuel Management, continuously variable valve timing and an advanced combustion system that delivers more power while using less fuel.
  • Lightweight materials, including a carbon fiber hood and removable roof panel; composite fenders, doors and rear quarter panels; carbon-nano composite underbody panels and a new aluminum frame help shift weight rearward for an optimal 50/50 weight balance that supports a world-class power-to-weight ratio.
  • A sculptured exterior features advanced high-intensity discharge and light-emitting diode lighting and racing-proven aerodynamics that balance low drag for efficiency and performance elements for improved stability and track capability.
  • Track-capable Z51 Performance Package including: an electronic limited-slip differential, dry-sump oiling system, integral brake, differential and transmission cooling, as well as a unique aero package that further improves high-speed stability.

Could not agree more.  Fit and finish has always been the rub against American cars.  I'm pleased to see our auto manufacturers stepping up in this area and not always going with the cheapest materials.  Too much plastic in my GT500 when they could have done so much more.

Certainly not the radical departure we had been led to believe.

It's pretty much *everything* I was led to believe.  Wait until you see one sitting next to a SN197.  They're supposed to be MUCH smaller than the current line.

And I wouldn't bet the house on that being a accurate picture of the true car.  Magazines don't just 'leak' like that, especially one as big as C&D.  If it were some little Euro mag, I'd buy it all the way.

That and someone says it tells of the Trinity in one. That won't happen, it's too big to fit under the hood. Makes me *real* suspicious of the 'leak'.

Seems live an evolutionary of the S197, not a revolutionary change.  The roofline appears lower similar to the Camaro but not as extreme.  Ford probably learned from the mistakes of the transformer camaro.

I think if this was leaked then it was leaked by Ford to C&D.

The picture is pretty accurate, I had the opportunity to view one, sit in it and give my opinion at a automotive survey a year ago.

IMHO I like the car and the new styling cues. I don't know if I like the rear turn and stop light though, if you look closely at the picture, each part of the taillight

steps down from inside to the edge. I thought it looked bulky when I saw it.

Overall I like some of the engine options, I glad to see they will still be offer the 5.0 and possibly a larger engine.

Seriously considering a new GT 350 when Ford comes out with it. :)

Shelby owns (or OWNED?) the GT350 moniker so my bet is, it would be a Shelby GT350 vs. a Ford GT350.

If this is what it looks like, then it is something I can tolerate. Would I buy one? Probably not. At least it still looks like a Mustang, somewhat. I really do not think the new headlight and grill treatment are not going to make them sell more. They could have left the current retro styling and lighten the car like they have. I really think the main focus on sales will be the optional power train choices that will please everyone.

Shelby owns (or OWNED?) the GT350 moniker so my bet is, it would be a Shelby GT350 vs. a Ford GT350.

Phill

Not owned, but HAD the rights.  Ford now has the moniker rights, but unknown for how long.

from what I have read GT 350 is one of the models that Ford plans on releasing in the future.  They will also probably release a Mach One and other names from the past again.  I think, but am not sure, that Ford has the current rights to GT 350.  Ford made the last GT 350's back in the late 60's before the most recent GT 350's made by SAI.  Of course Ford also made the GT 500's back in the 60's as they do now also.

from what I've heard... this is going to basically (performance wise) eat Chevrolet alive...

Guys, think about this for a second....

Not only are we to believe that a (hard copy) magazine somehow "got leaked"...Which I suppose would be easy enough if a magazines security is so lax they allowed it but we are also supposed to believe that their WEB SITE somehow "got leaked"???

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

it doesn't even look like a Mustang? To me I see a little GT-R, Jaguar F-type especially the hood lines, and a couple other. C'mon be honest, remove the horse from the grill and its a European sports car!! I think the new F-type is a bad ass car but if I wanted a Jaguar I would buy one. Taking the American big V8 and putting it into a European sports car body does not make it a Mustang. I'm not saying I don't like it, its just not a Mustang to me.

Example, look at the nose of the 2013 GT500 even the Boss 302 and there is NO mistaken it for anything else but a Mustang
