Traded my 07 SGT

I traded my 07 Shelby Gt for a 2007 Saleen Parnelli Jones. It was hard to let my Shelby go, but I have looked for 2 years for a used mint PJ. The dealer in Cary, NC did not want my SGT with the 20" Razor wheels with Nitto tires, Shelby fluid caps and Shelby aluminum strut tower brace. I have all these items for sale. The Shelby silver Razor wheels with 6" back spacing I know are very hard to find, these are mint with less than 400 miles on them. You can check them out on Ebay. It has been great being a part of the Team Shelby family.

Bob

aftermarket water pump

Who's using one? Who builds them? What are the cons of installing one?

The only 2 I've found are the Meziere electric pump and the EMP Stewart high flow mechanical pump.
Both of these seem to have their advantages. The EMP Stewart pump flows more GPM and is built with higher quality parts over the OEM pump (billet stainless impeller, low friction bearings, etc). The electric pump will eliminate the parasitic HP loss from having to pull the water pump pulley, freeing up 10-15 HP (advertised). I'm hesitant, however, to go with an electric pump, only because I've never had one in the past and it seems like it might be more likely to fail than a traditional mechanical pump. Any input is much appreciated.

EMP Stewart pump

Meziere pump

MMR forged 5.0 stroker build

This thread will document my engine build. I decided today to go with MMR on the majority of the parts. A local shop called Motor Machines will do the machining and assembly. They do all of the machine work for many shops in and around Sacramento, including AED and NorCal Motorsports.

Rick at MMR helped me a ton with the parts I need and has helped me to draft up a plan for the rest of the build. Here's what I ordered today.

MMR Stroker 950 Street Mod rotating assembly:
MMR 8 bolt forged stroker steel racing crankshaft
Manley 4340 forged H-beam rods
Manley forged pistons (.020" over)
Hastings piston rings
Clevite rod and main cap bearings
ARP main studs
ARP rod bolts
MMR 'Hurricane' internal billet geared oil pump
MMR Romeo Racing engine sidebolt/washer kit

The new engine will have a 9:1 compression ratio, which Rick thinks is the perfect choice for my Paxton Novi 1200. Since Rick worked at Paxton for a long time, I'm taking his word for it. Once I can get the motor torn down at work, I'll drop it off at Motor Machines for the machining that's necessary.
Next, the cams will go off to Comp for inspection and warranty claim. Once I have a resolution out of Comp, the heads will be sent to MMR for porting/polishing/assembly. Finally, the complete heads will be brought to Motor Machines for the final long block assembly and timing setup. NorCal will then re-install the long block and I'll put the rest back together at home.

The stroker kit and other parts will ship in a week or two. I'm relieved to have a goal in sight with this unexpected project. Stay tuned...

Ken

After leaving Van hanging a month or two back, I finally got the Shelby radiator on order just now. I'm really excited to get the thing installed. I'll use this thread to document the install.
It's going to be a bit more difficult for my setup, because of the Paxton blower. Apparently a small portion of the upper rad support needs to be cut away and the upper support mounting holes to be re-tapped, in order to make way for the bulky Paxton air intake assembly.

I'll get photos up once the new radiator shows up.

Ken

There's an old thread about this little brace somewhere, but I couldn't find it. While NorCal Motorsports was dropping the engine next door, I asked them to quickly install the brace to see if it would clear my 7 quart Moroso oil pan.
So everyday I have been searching the internet for a SGT somewhere in California for a reasonable price 30,000 or so without much luck( being very picky) and found this deal today. Sorta can't believe the price 24k with only 5k miles no way!

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=u...;standard=false

Go Forged Alcoas or stay with Razors?

I have been offered a killer price on some Alcoa wheels and I am debating to go with them or keep the current Razors. I love the Razors and they get many compliments plus they have a deep dish look but many people are getting them now. On the other hand I have only seen one (a GO on here)SGT, well just recently two SGT's with them on(a Blue with KR ones)- the ones I may get are in the 20 inch size. Here is photoshop pic of the Alcoa ones, what do you guys think? Keep the Razors or go Alcoas?

Moroso Master Cylinder Brake cover

Put on a Moroso brake cylinder cover to hide the plastic tank. Fits nicely for a cosmetic look. However, the GTH billet cap will not seal. Anyone else have this issue and what was the fix? I see the standard shelby cap seems to work. I would think they are similar.
