Ouch! I just ordered the Griggs GR40SS Kit for my 2010 GT. Awaiting Delivery....Im excited to see what this thing can do ........
I was wondering about the lightweight Joengbloed 18" wheels griggs offers....Since they are almost half the weight of my stock 19 inch wheels, will it accelerate quicker? Turn Quicker and will i feel difference on a street app ? anyone here that has them please comment.... |

With slicks.

(IMG:http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm186/sprsnk/sprsnk/SSCC09.jpg) 315/30/18's on all 4 corners. For a street application, I'd say no. You would not see any improvement due to the weight on a street application. Well made, mine survived this: (IMG:http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm186/sprsnk/sprsnk/ATT00584.jpg) (IMG:http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm186/sprsnk/sprsnk/ATT00581.jpg) |

The SS kit is awesome! I didn't opt for the optional watts link but I can tell you that even without it, the car handles like a proper sports car. Gone is wheel hop, jounce and all that unwanted rear motion that was going on. Now if I could get my car to stop like it handles, we'd be somewhere! Oh and part of the reason I dumped all that cash into the car besides the pickup truck handling was seeing shots of SPRSNK's car! He cost me a pretty penny with those shots of his! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Good luck! This post has been edited by timberwolf: Nov 3 2009, 07:12 PM |

The Youngbloods are top line custom racing wheels, I have the 305Aero fan design 3-piece wheels, 10.5x18 front and rear, currently I'm running Toyo R888 tires 305/35/18 front and rear. I use these wheels and tires on the street and track, the tire is soft (100 UTQG) and the wheels are light and maybe not the best choice on the street, but I don't drive my car on the street that much and the performance of a soft tire is hard to go without.
Have you looked at other custom manufactures like Forgeline, CCW or Fiske? For the price of the Youngbloods, $700-750, you can consider several custom wheel manufactures. Jongbloed 305 Areo 3-Piece (IMG:http://i423.photobucket.com/albums/pp313/wprailfan/dcp_2822.jpg) Fikse Profil 10 3-Piece (IMG:http://i423.photobucket.com/albums/pp313/wprailfan/s197frcopyvd0.jpg) CCW 505A (IMG:http://i423.photobucket.com/albums/pp313/wprailfan/dcp_2430.jpg) Forgeline ZX3R 3-Piece (IMG:http://www.forgeline.com/product_images/customer_vehicle-_image-252.jpg) This post has been edited by WP64: Nov 4 2009, 06:47 AM |

^ How do you like the R888's compared to other performance tires (especially compared to RA1's, if you have any experience with them)?

I haven't tried the RA1's, John and Colin have told me the R888's are soon to be discontinued so I might give them a try or go with the Hoosier R6's for the track and get a set street wheels and tires. The nice thing about the R888 has been how they hold up, I've got 5 track days on my first set and apx 1000 street miles and the tread is about halfway gone. Fiske is out of business/closed. Yep, sure enough, that sucks!!! This post has been edited by WP64: Nov 4 2009, 05:22 PM |

great responses from everyone, Thanks!
Few more questions: 1) Lowest price dealer for jongbloeds aero 305? im on a major budget. 2) Does wheel comes center Cap. 3) I have the track pack option for my 2010 GT. Rumor has it stock mustang 18's wont fit because of larger braked and rotors. Now how am i gonna know if i can get these 18's ! Help! 4) I wanted to see Pics of Hard Andiozed and Reg Versions, Whats the Difference. 5) Should i get deeper inset version? I like deep dish look. 6) Should i get 10.5 or 9.5 or both ? Griggs says 9.5 on all 4 wheels for Gr40 ss Kit. wont i get better handling with 10.5 up front? 7) Are these wheels easier to bend than stock cast wheel. 8) Will i get faster acceleration since 18's are lighter, and less rotating mass! |

great responses from everyone, Thanks! Few more questions: 1) Lowest price dealer for jongbloeds aero 305? im on a major budget. No idea, call JongBloed and ask for a list of their dealers, then shop around 2) Does wheel comes center Cap. No center caps allowed on the track, these are track wheels, you get no cap 3) I have the track pack option for my 2010 GT. Rumor has it stock mustang 18's wont fit because of larger braked and rotors. Now how am i gonna know if i can get these 18's ! Help! Rumors have a way of being wrong... Why are you going with a factory "track pack"? Go Griggs, don't buy a factory option you don't need. 4) I wanted to see Pics of Hard Andiozed and Reg Versions, Whats the Difference. OK, I can't help you there 5) Should i get deeper inset version? I like deep dish look. This isn't pizza, brake clearance, required offset and wheel width will determine outter inset 6) Should i get 10.5 or 9.5 or both ? Griggs says 9.5 on all 4 wheels for GR40SS Kit. wont i get better handling with 10.5 up front? The GR40SS still has struts in the front, 9.5 is as wide as you can go up front with struts 7) Are these wheels easier to bend than stock cast wheel. Yes 8) Will i get faster acceleration since 18's are lighter, and less rotating mass! Probably not enough for you to notice, at least, not by the seat of your pants feel. |

I misspoke here, the R888's are not going away, but they will not be allowed in NASA AI & AIX next year, only the RA1 will be allowed in these series. |

First off: congrats!
Secondly, you got a 2010 GT or GT500? If you have a track pack, sounds like you have a GT, but the track pack doesn't mention anything about bigger brakes. In any case, the 2007 GT500's have 14" Brembos on the front, and the calipers are huge fat things. No you cannot use stock Mustang GT wheels on them, or indeed many of the after market wheels. However, the Jongbloeds are custom made and they could fit them on your pinto if you asked. You will have to measure the wheels if your setup is non standard. Another advantage that the Jongbloeds have is that they are three piece, so if you mess up a rim, you can get it fixed for about $200, instead of a whole new wheel (plus, I assume, shipping). For this reason I got three piece HRE wheels, which are just as light, but their factory is about a mile away from my house :-) They are slightly more expensive, but the convenience was the decider for me. Also, I run RA1s. They have better wet traction than R888s, in fact they race them unshaved in the wet in American Iron I believe. And when you wear them down, the tread pattern changes to slicks, just in time for summer! :-) I picked them over Michelin etc, because the RA1 is what the heavy cars like ours run in American Iron.
