as for the 2.9 I herd there were some issues with it and when i tried getting an answer to my question WHY, they couldnt tell me the reason.
Anyone know what the issue is with the 2.9
From what i hear about the tvs is that its the best bag for the buck and makes awesome power with the L and m t/b and most efficient at 16lbs of boost. but if you decide to go any faster...its maxxed out
I don't know if i would call the whipple the best bang for the buck. One of the major disadvantages of the TVS, even though they recently lowered the price, is that they are expensive when you look at top end numbers. You can get a 2.9 whipple kit for close to what you would pay for a TVS and have a lot more potential with the 2.9. Best bang for the buck goes to the 2.9 w/o a doubt.

The blower has performed flawlessly and I drive it everyday 34 miles each way to work. Starts and runs fine when cold, knocks down 20mpg (when I keep my foot out of it), and makes GREAT power. I have 714 to the wheels with the following mods.
Whipple 2.9 w/3.25 pulley
IW 10% OD lower (total of 19.5 psi)
long tubes and offroad x
Whipple monoblade
JLT CAI
73 lbs/hr injectors
KB BAP
and it runs fine on 93 octane.
As for Z06's, I have only had experience with one, and he has long tubes full exhaust and tune making 505 to the tire, and I did not have a hard time with it.
But, I think any route you take with a bigger blower (2.8L or larger) will make you happy. You just will not believe what 700 RWHP feels like when you let it lose.
Good Luck,
Ottis

I would buy another one is a sec if I had to do it over again. Also remember those numbers posted earlier are STD and not corrected so if that means anything to you. One nice thing about the KB it is a complete kit everything you need in one. Plus instructions that are better than I have ever seen before. GL we all are going to be biased depending on what we are running. If you search enough you will find a few failures on the 2.9 and 3.4 not saying on this site but you will find them on other sites. Not to say you couldnt have a problem with the KB but I have heard of a lot more with the Whipples. JMO

I'm considering both but would like everyone's opinion on the better of the two. I understand that the Whipple 3.4 requires the K member kit or a different hood. Please give me the pro's and con's of both.
Thank you,
Shane
I've always been impressed by the vast amount of technical data and theory on the KB web site. The Whipple site is almost completely void of it. I get a good feeling when a manufacturer shares this kind of info in detail.

Know I believe the KB 2.8 is a proven product and has a great performance history. I also believe Whipple is a proven performer - and I think the Ford Racing partnership is indicative of that. I also know certain vendors will favor KB over Whipple. Why that is - I'm not so sure. There's an obvious difference in list price, and I believe there may also be a difference in margin - or profit for the vendor. It may simply be that there's more to be made by differentiating against Whipple and the Ford Racing partnership since there may be more money in it. I think there are those who are not that interested in customers having a good Whipple experience.
In any case, Whipple made design changes to the mounting plate on my behalf, which I'm not convinced was even necessary. They also paid for several installations of the 2.9 and my stock blower as we troubleshooted the situation. They reimbursed me for all of the dynos performed in the process.
Art Whipple made nothing from selling this blower to me. Though he made a happy customer and proud Whipple owner out of me. Anyone who says Whipple won't stand behind their product, either doesn't know what they're talking about - or has an agenda of their own.
