Good news folks....

I had a visit with the head of Hermann's tourism board today and he is very excited to have all of us in town. There will also be a bicycle race going on (in another part of town) so the town ill be fully open and ready for all of us.

The four wineries in town will be open for tours and we will have someone on hand that (for tips) will chauffuer folks around to the wineries and shops....and he'll pick you up when you call his cel phone. If you have never seent he sites, you'll be impressed. They bust their humps to welcome tourists and as long as no one does donuts in the city hall lawn (FarmDog :waiting: :waiting: ), we should be okay.

The city of Hermann is going to link our Shelbyfest website onto their website. He also told me that he had received notice that there had been some lodging being booked for a "car show" so the buzz is all over.

I was also told last night in regards to our little gathering "you have no idea what you've started".

I just want to make sure that everyone that comes enjoys themselves and wants to return.

This just keeps getting better all the time.

Kyle, that's great. Tell the Mayor that we are good drivers...he can look at these photos to see that.

And as for this last one, tell him this was KCMO's one time slip up, it will never happen again.

The wine thing will be a big plus for my wife. She likes to do that a lot. We are staying all day sunday too so we can look around a little more at the town and see the sights. I liked it there so much last year that was my one regret - not enough time to look around at everything. My parents are even coming to stay here with the dogs and Katie so me and Kelly can have some time with Kyle for everything and not have to mess with all of the baby stuff that week end.

Very much looking forward to it. I told the bed and breakfast owner when i reserved a room that is what it was for and he seemed pretty excited it was going to be coming to town too. My only concern is parking. I may have to park at the Ford Dealer to get off road if the little drive way spot he has is too much of a hill. Maybe I could hire the wine driver to stay out there and watch my car all night after the winery's close :)

If you look at one of the other liinks, I live about 5-6 miles from Hermann and my drive is open for anyone who wants to park there. My drive can hold 12-15 cars easily or 25 if we put them in like a dealer lot. I have transportation back to the hotel. If all the cars park at my house and there are about 6 or 7, I'll give someone the keys to my Expedition or if 12 cars come I also have a F-250 someone else can drive back to the hotel. It's all up to you guys, there is the offer, that is the best I can do.

Kyle,

We have a room at Birks Gasthaus. They said they have the entire B&B booked off for the event for those who wish to stay. I am not familiar with this one. Do they have parking on site or do you think it would be best to keep the car at the dealership?

Thanks,
Dr. Jon

There won't be any formal security but we can leave cars in the Dealership lot and close the entrances to the lot off or........

I have a buddy that lives about 5 miles from the dealership and is willing to let anyone leave their car at his house and he has offered the use of his Expedition and his F250 to use as a shuttle.

The cars would be away from any main road and would most assuredly be safe.

I also think that the cars will be safer in Hermann in the parking lots than our cars were in Deaborn last August.

This is where we are for the same reason. They did tell us not to leave our soon to be 4yr old alone in the room for the day??? We are in suite 15 - Maybe we can figure out a parking thing together so we are as safe as possible.

Gentlemen,

I can provide you a couple of different parking solutions.....

You can leave your cars at the dealership and I can arrange for a "taxi" the next day of sorts in the form of an Ford Expedition or I have a firend that lives about 5 miles from the dealership back off the main road and you can leave your cars there as well and we can transport you to and from.....

I saw the post about the driveway and may try that. I am trying not to be overly sensative and expect to be able to find something even if it is just leaving at the Ford dealer for the night and walking the few blocks to the place we are at. It's hard to believe that there would be an issue in a town like this but in this day and age.....

If you were to park your cars at the dealer, wouldn't it be outside? If it were inside, the dealer only has so many spots inside and you have to rely on someone from the dealer coming in to let you get your car.

Like I said before and that CB has pointed out, I will give someone the keys to my Expedition and F-250 if they want to park at my house. I have alot of room. They will be off the road, out of site and in a more secure area. Nobody comes by my house to damage anything. There has not been a break in or vandalism in my area in years. I can't even remember one incident.

You guys are more than welcome to take advantage of this.

Greg,

Thanks for offering to help the guys out. I plan on taking you up on the offer to use the Expedition to taxi folks back and forth. I'll be in touch soon.

Just another thought for you guys. My wifes car has a flashing blue emergency light on the dash. If you guys want, we can get you escorted to the dealer. The light will bring some additional attention to you when you drive into town. Just let me know from which direction you will be coming and we'll meet you just outside of town and escort you in.

Here is a picture of her car. I know it's not a Shelby.
