So I asked myself other than the documentation from Hertz and registering with Shelby, what other collector items are must haves for GT-H owners? Well I have started a list:

1. Hertz 18x24 showroom poster
2. Hertz Shelby GT-H Hat
3. Hertz 36x24 showroom poster
4. The Hertz World employee magazine featuring the GT-H on the cover
5. The MotorTrend September 2006 Magazine with the GT-H on the cover and 9 page story
6. The Modified Mustang August 2006 Magazine with the GT-H on the cover
7. The 1:64th scale CS 2006 GT-H diecast
8. The 1:18th scale CS 2006 GT-H diecast
9. Matching Hertz 15x15 2006/2007 pictures hung in the Hertz agencies/offices
10. Press Photo 1 sided
11. Press Photo 2 sided
12. The Automobile October 2006 Magazine 6 page story
13. The Car & Driver November 2006 Magazine 6 pages story

There are a few (maybe more than a few) magazine articles featuring the 06 Hertz when it was first announced. Some of these are available in print and on the web, but some are only web. I didn't bother keeping the little one-liner blurbs, just went for the substantive articles.

Here is a list of the links I found a while back:

There have been several of the hats on ebay periodically. I picked one up a few weeks ago for $24 from a Hertz employee. Keep your eyes peeled on ebay.

When we rented 07H314 in Ft Lauderdale, my girlfriend asked the agent if they had any hertz apparel that we could buy, she looked at her like she was completlely crazy, then we explained that we had just bought a 2006 GT-H. When we were getting our walk around of the 07 GT-H she brought out the shelby hat for us. She really made our rental experience even better.

Another "must have" are sure the T-Shirts. There is a yellow and a black one. For the hard core fans also the Fender GT-H guitar and a special Hertz-Shelby GT-H jacket but up to now I just managed to see a picture of them but never got the chance to buy one.

Anyone interested in purchasing copies of the Motor Trend GT-H issue can get them for a very reasonable price from the publisher's website (Primedia). I bought 3 copies for a more reasonable price than what they were going for on E-Bay.

OK I don't know if this qualifies as a must have GT-H item, but how about a 2007 Shelby Christmas Card. Got this card at a small mom and pop pizza shop just up the street from Shelby's in LV the the week before Christmas during a visit to rent a GT-H vert. Card was taped to a display case by the cash register. I asked the lady that worked there if it was for sale. Was told "No" but I had this tragic image of it going in the garbage can after the New Year. Offered her $10, she still said "No." She must have been in the Christmas spirit because while we were eating our pizza she gave us the card. Or maybe she noticed our rented GT-H vert parked just outside the window. Either way, I did give her the $10.

I just received my copy of issue 45 of Octane magazine. That is a cool article and a must have. Nice article from the UK when a couple of the photogs came to California for the Monterey Week and rented a GT-H. Also a great article on Shelby's twin supercharged CSX3015 Cobra that sold at Barrett last year.

I find it odd that the 1:18 scale die cast comes in different boxes with different car positions. Why would they build it in different boxes?
There's the one that comes in the Silver Shelby Collectible box. This is a bigger box with the car positioned at an angle, hence the bigger box. Then there is the one with the car positioned square and the box is black with gold stripes. I don't know, so I got both. Same builder in China and the car is the same car.

Primedia's website is COMPLETELY Sold out on the September 2006 Motor Trend Back issue, and WILL NOT have anymore ever--I just emailed them and that is the response I got. So I guess Ebay is the only place we can find these now...
