So you like the idea of an 'R' Model? Cost and value aside, would you buy one and race it, or would you buy the street version, if available???
For me, I want street, but barely, juuuuuuuust barely

If it became available, I would race it. Hobby, weekend stuff only.
Man would that be cool.

maybe something will show up at SEMA 08? with 6 more years with Ford, I'm sure Amy and the team have some very intertesting future projects. I just need a bigger garage, lol.

Chris,

Your questions sound a bit like an informal SAI survey... not that I mind.
This is the first time I've heard of a street version. Ever since I read about
the possibility of a GT350R in a response Amy gave in a previous (and now
closed) thread in this forum, I've presumed that it would be something to
replace the FR500C in Grand Am racing. But perhaps SAI is looking at a more
modest race series (SCCA? NASA?).

A barely street version does intrigue me because as an enthusiast who would
not want to spend big race $ or risk damage I would love to do track days to
see how my lap times compare to those of actual races/qualifications.

Tom,
I am just expressing what I would like.
Just like everyone else here, I am a HUGE Shelby fan-- and owned a GT350 in the past. I LOVED that car, and given the opportunity, I would buy a modern one in a heartbeat.
I know that if we did a GT350, it would be done right-- right looks, right performance, etc.
Sooooo, like you, I would not want to spend big race $-- but track days in something hot (really hot) would be wild.
Not that my SS is not hot (nearly explosive!), but I loved all of the Shelbys of old (like different weapons for different battles), and the GT350 is no exception.
Is this an informal poll??? Not really. But it never hurts to be heard ;)
