Greetings all,
Well we are looking at just a few final days before our historical gathering. I cannot tell you how excited I am see all of you again, meet new faces, and look at a large group of the finest American muscle cars created in a long time.
Event Check In - We will be scrambling to get everyone off the street as fast as we can when you get there. Once you get your car in place, please come to the registration table to pick up your shirt order and sign in. We will give you a card to place in your window as well as a ticket to hang onto for door prizes.
Shelbyfest Shirts/Mechandise - We should have plenty of Shelbyfest shirts and hats available for those of you that want more than you ordered or didn't order when you pre-registered. We will also have a full selection of officially licensed Ford and Shelby shirts to choose from. The proceeds from the sales of merchandise go towards helping our charities.
Charities - For those of you that don't know, we are focusing on two major charity efforts this year. The first is to raise a little money for the Hermann community to build a new ball field in Rhineland. The second, being our main focus, is to raise money to help out a Team Shelby member named Bryan Oesterreich in Washington North Carolina. He goes by the user name of "RufDraft". His wife has MS and her medical bills hav been continually mounting. We are seeking to give the majority if the monies raised to Bryan and his wife Christine to help keep their medical bills at bay. There is on other cause we are in the process of trying to figure out if we can support....this one came to my attention at the last minute and is a very worthy cause. There is a young man in Hermann that is blind due to a condition that I could neither spell or pronounce. There is a surgery available in China (as it has not yet been approved here in the US) that will almost certainly restore his sight. There have been many events to raise the necessary funds to get him to China. One of our fellow Shelby enthusiasts, Jerry Lenger is a relative of the family and can fill us all in on his condition. Jerry and I have discussed ways to use Shelbyfest to help raise money for this cause as well.
I think our crowd this year will be beyond belief. We have several vintage Shelbys as well as a couple of AC Cobras coming out. I encourage everyone to bring their cameras and take lots of pictures. I will provide a way fro you to post them to the Shelbyfest website and get them up on the Team Shelby website.
Our event photographer will be shooting shots as well. She is making herself available to do custom shoots for anyone that wants one. She does awesome digital collage work and can take advantage of any of the great shoot locations in Hermann.
I'll have more to come in the next couple of days so please stay tuned.
