I was in Orlando last week, and decided to rent a GT-H, so I wouldn't have to go five days with no Shelby! Plus, I figured a convertible would be a nice treat for a few days. Nope. After the usual "Sorry, we don't have a Shelby for you" routine (I found one out in the lot before I went in, and made note of the parking space number, then let the clerk know that he DID have one... magically, he found it in the computer.), I went out to pick up my car, and after a closer look in the light, my heart sank. Sure, I know people beat on rental cars, but this was just sad. Lots of big dents, and it was COVERED in heavy scratches and ground-in DIRT, inside and out. The transmission was loose and clanky, but otherwise drove OK. I've never seen a Tire Pressure Monitor Fault message before, but now I have. Anyway, I was just left with the impression that Hertz should not rent highline cars at these prices unless they're gonna step up the service and maintanance to match... Clearly, the early pickiness about GT-H rentals is gone - no special treatment, inspections, etc... just another rent-a-wreck. Sad. I feel HORRIBLE for whoever ends up owning it.
