I finally got things wrapped up and am proud to announce that we were able to raise $1800 to send to Ruf and Ruffles. I have spoken with Ruf now in person and he knows. We did our best to keep it a secret so we could surprise them.
We were also able to raise money for two other causes:
A local community ball field that needs to be rennovated
A young Hermann boy that is travelling to China in July for a surgery to correct his blindness.
We hope that Ruf and Ruffles can use this money to help with some of their expenses.
The best part of what we have here is the people. That has been the biggest reward for me...meeting all of you. I hope that we can continue the fellowship here and bring assistance to those in need.
Thanks to all that gave and participated. Without you, the day would not have been such a success.
I look forward to seeing you all again at Shelbyfest 2009.
Kyle

None of this would have happened without your dedication, determination and generosity.
You are truly a good and decent person and I feel privileged to have you as a friend.
Thanks,
Alan

Thanks to all who donated - from the bottom of my heart. Christine's medical expenses continue to mount. These funds will be put to good use. And - it's not just the money that will help us. It's the act of caring for us. We don't have much family here - and they've yet to step up and help. You All are our family - and we've never even met!
Kyle - my brother - we shall meet one day. And you're gonna get one big azz Man Hug!

Thanks, Man. We've got such a caring and generous group of members on this site. When I was driving trucks back in the '70's - '80's - I almost moved to CO (Greely) and planned on driving for Monfort (beef & lamb).

This response makes it all worth it-Kyle, your efforts deserve a very big BRAVO! I really enjoyed the weekend (even the separation of me from my money!) and am glad we could all help a little. I'm really looking forward to next year!

I've been telling my car buddies about this act of caring and everyone who hears it says the same thing: There are a lot of good people in America - we just don't hear enough about them.

Your checks arrived today.
Between the donations from those at your gathering and the remaining funds from Darkside's fund raising thread, it looks like our 8 day visit to the Mayo Clinic next month will be covered!! Including traveling there and back and accomodations while there.
What a feeling. Again - to everyone who reached out to us way over here in North Carolina - many thanks.
Christine continues to suffer seizures and MS symptoms. She had gone 3 days this week without a seizure - then had 4 yesterday. Today, it's so hot outdoors, she's hardly moved off the sofa and slept until noon.
She continues to show no signs of improvement. But she hasn't given up.
Hopefully, her visit to the Mayo in Jacksonville FL will shed some light on what's keeping her down for so very very long.
She has yet to be approved for disability, also. What a government we have. I got a letter from them saying they would only "expedite" her claim if I submit documentation that we're being foreclosed on.
Thanks to all of our brothers and sisters in the Heartland of America!
