Just wanted to pass along some info that Dustin@Whipple is working on a Crusher Inlet Upgrade Kit for the GT500 3.4L Supercharger.

The inlet will be in many ways like the one just released for the 03-04 Cobra 3.4L. The results are very impressive. It will accommodate the 160mm Supermono throttle body and flow some major air. It's going to be accompanied with an intake system that's also geared to flow as much air as possible to relieve any restriction that the current intake system poses.

Here's a few pics of the 03-04 Cobra setup.

Once Dustin has an inlet available we'll be testing it at VMP Tuning to see how much of an improvement it makes on our car.

In addition to that once we have pricing and a release date we'll let everyone know.

Thanks, Jared

Are you talking about a new inlet on the supercharger itself?

Here's what the prototype looks like. It's HUGE and is going to be a tight fit but most importantly going to remove any inlet restriction for the massive 3.4L.

Keith,

There won't be any welds as the production pieces will be cast.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks, Jared

Hi Jared,

what will be the difference (hp / torq) with or without the crusher?

Thanks

There will indeed be a difference. How much we still don't. Currently the inlet design of the 3.4L is choked off. Once it's opened up it will drastically improve air flow over the current design. More airflow for a large blower like the 3.4L means more power all around. We expect to have a sample crusher inlet available late next week.

We'll keep everyone posted once it arrives.

Jared

Jared,

I notice you mention being a tight fit. What kind of fitment issues would there be? Also is Matt back from vacation I need a few parts?

There aren't going to be any fitment issues. I was meaning more like it's just going to be as big as possible . I guess we'll find out how big when we install one here shortly.

Also,
Matt is back so please feel free to give him a call if there's anything you need.

Thanks, Jared

5 cast samples showed up at Whipple today. If they fit with no issues they will go into production and we should be able to ship production pieces in less than 2 weeks. As soon as I get better pics I'll post up. This was sent to me on my cell today.
