I played through 50% of the game thinking that you could unlock it, didn't realise all you had to do was just enter a code.

I got the game and unlocked some of the cars, but, I do not know "how" to get them to use them. When I input the code, it says I got the car, but I can't use it 
Oh well, guess I'll keep having fun with it!!!
And, the hand control unit SUCKS when racing. The car is to finicky when trying to steer. The car is ALL over the road!!! During the high speed pursuit (saying it like Jackie Gleason LOL), the car is a bit better in handling ). I am hoping to get the steering wheel unit and hope it makes it a bit better to steer the car with. That thing is just too touchy!!!!

Play the arcade mode or online mode it will be under "Custom cars."
If you are trying to play the Story Mode it will not show up.

There should be a menu that pops after that asking for Rank, Traffic, Difficulty and Nitrous.
Press [A] for OK
Then the next menu should pop up asking for you to pick your car, hit your RB button once to BONUS CARS
Scroll down until you see Need for Speed Shelby Terlingua
Then enjoy...

Help!!!
Has anyone managed to get to the Terlingua Need for Speed Car??? I cannot try as I might and I have tried. I have tried all the ways listed in the thread above - no luck - something is missing - some crucial step I suspect. For example I do not know or seem to have a "start Button".
I cannot find arcade mode at all and again i have tried as shown above - something is missing.
I enter the code under secret codes also, but no NFS. This states the car is there as in my code is accepted - but no car.
Can someone post really specific easy to follow step by steps???
I have the PC version and have not managed it try as I have.

OK PC may be a little different.
I'll try to help as much as possible...
First pause the game, scroll down the Enter Secret code. The Pause button on the PC should be either Pause, home or something of that sense.
Type in NeedForSpeedShelbyTerlingua
Once the message has said Congratulations ...
Exit to previous screen and choose quick race.
DO NOT CHOOSE JOB!
There should be a menu that pops after that asking for Rank, Traffic, Difficulty and Nitrous.
Then the next menu should pop up asking for you to pick your car, scroll right once to BONUS CARS

I have the same problem too. I can't find the car, no matter what I do. I tried the code again, but it says I have it. I guess I'll keep looking.
I also made my son play the game (while he was here for the holidays) until I had enough money to buy the KR. I ran it once, got it inpounded and never seen it again!!! LMAO!!!!!!! I did run an almost 17 minute chase with this car. It was way too much fun!!!!!! But boy did my hand hurt after that!!!!
My wife did get me the wireless steering wheel system for my XBOX. I really love it!!! I am still getting used to it though. It does tend to over steer a bit. My son told me I could adjust the responsiveness on it, but I have not done it yet.

I bought this game for my little nephew for his PS3. I know that the console systems are all the same except the PC it's a little different, because of the controls. Anyways anyone need help?

Thanks to everyone trying to help.
I have the PC version and no one that I have spoken with yet can find the Terlingua on the PC version - does ANYONE have any ideas or has anyone managed to find the Terlingua car on the PC version.

Okay - good news PC users - the NFS is in there and can be found!!!
With the clues that the good folks on this forum provided I did get to the NFS as follows:
First hit esc on the game, scroll down the Enter Secret code for the NeedForSpeedShelbyTerlingua get the congrats message.
Once the message has said Congratulations ...
Exit to previous screen and choose quick race
Now choose event map - then a big menu with all the race options about 9 of them pops up, hit enter and a map of the whole "world" pops up. Go to the bottom middle with the arrow keys and find the main area of the city - put the compass circle on this and hit enter. You will then choose one of the types of courses other than JOB that pop up such as sprint, evade etc and hit enter once the compass is on this option. Hit enter again on the next screen and
There should be a menu that pops after that asking for Rank, Traffic, Difficulty and Nitrous.
Now you are home free - hit the number 0 (zero) and then all the bonus cars pop up scroll to the NFS! It is awesome.
Yes, yes to much time on my hands...
