Went to local strip this past Saturday... more seat time needed for this novice.

Ran up against a 2008 SRT8 6.1L Hemi Jeep... turbocharged, tuned & all wheel drive!
He ran 11.77 @ 123.36 and totally dusted me :peelout:

I thought I had treed him off the line, but talked to him later and learned he was "waiting" for his boost to build

Anyway, pretty impressive as he drove by me and finished many lengths ahead...

Those are pretty impressive Jeeps. I went to Camp Jeep in 2006 at Road America. They were giving high speed rides out on the track with professional drivers. If I remember correctly, we hit around 120 - 130 on the straight aways. The Jeep had more in it, but they were not allowed to drive 10/10th with us. We even had to wear helmets. It was wierd driving that fast in an SUV.

These SRT-8 Grand Cherokees are impressive. Even in stock form, the performance level is similar to a Porsche Cayenne at a fraction of the price. I also like the centered exhaust; reminds me of the 69-70 Shelbys.

Yes, running stock... still a novice and trying to learn how to "drive" my car with some predictable consistancy before adding additional equipment.

I don't mind getting beat, since I'm only trying to improve on my own performance.

Any hints on proven launch techniques and shift points?

Thanks,
Keith

Don't think it was a Hennessey conversion.

Had an 08 jeep srt8 and ran it with 91 miles on the clock with 3/4 tank of gas and ran 13.06 and many 13.0's that night. I put a 150 shot on it and got a best of 11.47@118.97 with a 1.58 60'..... Only thing it had was the shot, tune, and cai. They are beasts....On the cai and tune only it ran 12.60's.....Backed the shot down to 125 and still ran 11.70's @115-116.....They are fast on the track and street especially from a dig.

One question I have is why was his trap so high when I ran the same as him? aNY THOUGHTS?

Silly question. Are these Jeeps stock turbo? Is this something that is common for SRT8 Jeeps? I am going to the Jeep web site and check it out. I did not realize they
were that fast!

Simple, that one has turbo so leaves softer than you but has more power so more mph, you left harder but have less mph (less power)
