I think it would be cool if Ford reintroduced an updated version of the foamous toploader. People still use those transmissions for racing today. They should go and talk to some one like David Key of David Key toploaders in Texas and try to come up with a new version of an old ledgend

All of my top loaders work great - even though they are from the 1960s

6 gears is needed, i dont think you'll ever see ford,or any company for that matter, go back to external shift linkage. But the toploader in my boss is AWESOME. aside from cruising down the highway with 3.91's in the back

Robert, are talking about the Borg Warner T10 4 spd top loader? Or was there also a Ford 60s top loader?
The T10 in my '68 sure has been bullet-proof... (and there's no tripple-synchros or rev-limiters to save your butt on the occasional power shift :) ).
