I'm a computer dumbass and I searched the site with no luck.

Has a date been anounced for the 2009 event or is there a 2009 event?

I would add that there is much interest in one if that makes a difference! :lurk:

There has to be another one. If they have another one it will be the one thing I will make sure I attend every year for the rest of my life. That weekend had put a lifetime smile on my face. If we are lucky and they have it again I am sure it won't be wild wild west style.

I don't think there will ever be another that would top 2008, but I'm in if it happens.

Would you guess how many people/cars attended?

Out of state participation was good?

Just curious as I would like to see the event return.

That event sounds like something I'd really like to attend. I'm hoping they continue to do it. If not this year, I would attend next year for sure.

I have doubts for another "official" Terlingua event. I do know that Shelby and/or people close to them have talked about it. I hope I am wrong and there is another official event in Terlingua. If there is I will be there no matter the cost.

The other option would be a non-official event. Basically just a bunch of us getting together on our own. I dont know what kind of response you would get for that. Probably not very good, especially from out of staters.

I guess someone could do a poll though......

If SAI doesn't setup an Event, we sure could easily enough. It would take the cooperation of someone living down there though to do the legwork of getting us the permits to close the roads we would need.

We probably won't be able to get the same police escort service if we want to take a run up to Alpine again :shift:

The police escort and car show was in place of the open road race. There wouldn't be a need for going to Alpine and if we did schedule that in the mix, the local authorities will more than likely assist us again. I for one would much rather have a road race than a car show. I can do car shows here in town and not have to drive 9 hours to go to one.

I wasn't pushing for another car show.......just attempting an inside joke for the unique opportunity we had to have an understanding law officer running front door for a bunch of high performance vehicles. I'm definitely in for the road race.

Road races is good. I just want more information about the actual circumstances of a "road race". Is it like the Silver State Classic, or whatever that Nevada thing is? That kind of event takes a bunch of organization and safety/tech rules. Entry fee would be monstrous. So would the fun, but I'm guessing there isn't enough support within Team Shelby to pull it off. Maybe with SAI and an open invitation to qualified entrants, like from the Silver State mailing list ...

You could make a great loop of the connectors from Alpine, Study Butte, and Marathon, some of it in Big Bend National Park.

Naw, that's way too ambitious. Road races is still good, but how?

Hm. Looks as if Silver State is running one in Chihuahua. That's right across the River Brave! All,

I have heard both yes and no regarding a 2009 Terlingua event - neither response from an official source. Rumor locally is that it will happen again - but I do not know.

If not, I am obviously local and would be glad to help set up an informal event. I can provide local info, food places, hotel info, contact needed folks etc. I live here and have the vested interest.

I would check back here around mid June, if Shelby doesn't do it, we can put together an "unofficial" Terlingua get together....and that is probably more to the spirit of the heritage behind it anyway. Lets absolve Shelby from any liability or responsibility for anything that could happen there and if they want to come as Shelby enthusiast in a non representational way, then great! I bet we could get some good interest in it!

But for now, we will leave it alone and David and my brother and I can nail down specifics and clear it through the right channels if that is the way it needs to be.

Just to be clear- We will not supercede any plans SAI or TS may have in the works, and of course would prefer a sanctioned event so we can rub elbows with the people we love from all the Shelby and Ford world.

Dude, I know your brother and you don't want him involved in this in any way. The liability for the golf cart damage would be HUGE!

Ya know I'm helping and you don't have a choice! I'd also suggest leaving it till the end of April and not June to make a decision on this event. I'm all for us doing it, but we need to give people time to plan for it. I'll PM you some more info.

Rick,

That sounds like good advice to me. ALL help and or direction would be very much appreciated!!!

As the local terlinguite, I will be glad to do as much as needed - should the need arise. Think it would be a good time.

Got a 04 Terminator this time and its got a real bad attitude.
