Can any of you people from Florida tell me some nice places to visit in the Florida Keys?

Perhaps nice, but reasonably priced, places to stay?

Looking to make it as far as Key West, but not sure I want to stay there.

Also looking to take the 1/2 day flight to the Tortugas.

Any info on scenic things to see or places to go?

:lurk:

Just got back last night from a week in Key West have been going there for 4 years now and really like it. I had my Team Shelby shirt on one day a guy asked me if I had a Shelby and how I liked it He had a Mustang but there really isnt anywhere in the Keys to get up any speed and enjoy a performance car Plenty of water sports boating beach good food and drinks You can take a boat all day trip to Tortuga

The past several years we have rented a house in Marathon. There some of them very reasonably priced. We go to fish in May/June when the Mai Mai and Tuna are in.

Islamorada is a neat place with a sand bar that is very popular hangout @ Holiday Isle.

You can get snorkleing/scuba diving trips any where down there and see some awsome reefs.

While in Key West there some sunset traditions and the sunsets can be breath taking, as well as the 151 rum runners.

I stayed at the Ambrosia properties a few times and really like the owner, their pets and rooms. They have several different accommodations you can choose from. If you're looking for an inexpensive option, the pool rooms where fabulous! The properties are also one block from the heart of Duval Street.

Thank you for all the input.

Where are the nice beaches to kick back on?

I take it the Gulf side has the nicer looking beaches right?

Planning for possibly mid to late Sept.

I'll PM you on Stang Mafia .com when I have a closer date set.

Would like to make a run through Miami still, maybe see some quick sites for the day.
