Hello all,

My name's Andrea, and I just found out about Shelbyfest. My boyfriend's a big Mustang guy, and I'm sure he'll want to go--the GT500 is his dream car (he loves the 1967 GT500s in particular). Unfortunately he's a long way from being able to afford one, or even any stuff for his current car (a '97 Mark VIII, stock everything aside from the Loudmouths I bought him for his b-day ), but I think it would totally make his day if he even just got to ride in a Shelby. Would any of you going this weekend be willing to take him for a short drive? It wouldn't have to be for more than a few minutes--you know, just so he gets to see/hear/feel the car in action. I'd be more than happy to buy you dinner or gas for your ride home, or whatever else you think would be appropriate compensation. (I'm just a student though, so my funds are kind of limited.) I know I'm a complete stranger, and I'm sure you all are just as protective of your cars as he is, so I definitely understand if nobody's willing to go out of their way to help some random girl and her boyfriend. I just thought it wouldn't hurt to ask. Either way, thanks for reading, and I look forward to seeing all of you and your Shelbys in Hermann!

You came to the right place! The people here are some of the greatest people I have had the pleasure of meeting (and reading ). I would be willing to bet that both you and your boyfriend will have many people willing to "share" their Shelby and/or Mustang with you.

EDIT ~ I just saw that you are from ST LOUIS... So if that's the case, if you can make your way to the Wal-Mart at I-44 (see details in this post Where to drop off your boyfriend...) by 8:00am on Saturday, he can ride back with me to Hermann... Your Choice!

My car will be on the dyno at some point during the day so I should be outside of the car show. I am pretty sure anyone you ask at the show will be more than willing. But if you don't want to ask strangers just look for a black car with tungsten stripes with WI plates on it. Then .

First time I met the guys from kansas city we hadn't talked 30 minutes and they were trying to get me to take their keys and drive their gt500's...Can't say anyone will let him drive but I would put money on it that they would take him for a ride in it! On a side note I declined the offer to drive and wondered later if I should have but I just didn't feel comfortable driving someone else's car that I just met...P.S. if it's a 1967 gt500 your wanting a ride in and find someone with one that's willing see if they got room for one more

NOT A PROBLEM Andrea! We'll hook him up; I've got a NEW/Rare '08 "TwisterSpecial" Coupe that I'll be happy to give him a ride in too. I think you guys will both have a LOT of fun! Look us up at the show. I'll be there w/ my Girlfriend and you can go to 'TwisterSpecial.com' to see what those look like; they've made less than 45 or so, mine is likely to be the only one there??? We'll see. it's going to be a lot of fun though, I'm SURE!

Hi again all,

Wow... everyone here is so nice! I am totally blown away by everyone's generosity. I definitely wasn't expecting to get so many offers, being the new kid in town and all. Thanks so much, you guys are awesome!

Unfortunately our plans are kind of up in the air right now as my BF's not 100% sure he wants to go (sorry, should've confirmed that before I posted, but I assumed he would and I wanted this to be a surprise )... if we do end up going though, we'll be sure to look you guys up! And, of course, ply you with cold adult beverages if you like.

Anyways, thanks again!! Hopefully see you there!
