After a GREAT weekend at ShelbyFest, it looks like my wife is going to participate in the Powder Puff Drag Races in Tulsa this year... I know of a couple of other members who will be watching their wives as well, but I'll let them chime in if they want...

However, I have never been out to the Drag Racing Events in Tulsa, so any advice would be great... Of course, we'll do a little "practicing" in KC before the end of June... But I just wanted to hear from those you have taken their wife and their Shelby to the strip... THANKS!

Well the first time I took my wife, she was actually just my girlfriend. We were living together and she went there with me and my '66 coupe. I was racing and she got really antsy to want to race on her own, we unhooked the Powerstroke from the trailer and put it on the strip. She went to the finals with it and spun bad coming out of the hole when she got too excited. On the way home she said she wanted to trade in her Honda Accord for a Mustang and wanted to stop by a dealership ASAP. The next day she was driving home a 2000 Mustang GT manual when she had never owned a manual trans car before! Since then she has just plain gone mad, she now drives a 700 horsepower 05 Mustang with a single turbo and runs 10's-11's on street tires with a manual transmission. I would have to say that the Mid America meet has turned her into an animal. This year we will be going after we have moved to FL, we won't be taking our cars but she has already been asked to drive an 03 Mach 1 with nitrous in the Powder Puff races, so I am sure she will take that up without hesitation. As for pointers, the Powder puff at Tulsa has been getting progressively competitive. Consistency is the key, it is bracket racing, doesn't matter how fast you are, just how close to your dial can you run and cut a good light...

Well Gregg, it looks like Lynell and Ester are going to have to do some reasearch in drag terminology before June!! Point & shoot may not be enough.

That's why we are going to "practice" at HPT on the 18th... Just remember to turn OFF the TCS for them in the staging area... And recommend shifting at 5,000 RPMs...

Thanks for the picture. I told Lynell she's now on the site in action (or soon to act)!

Can't wait for the 18th or the week after.
