Hermann Lodgin Thread Addressing the good and the bad...please read

I am already working on things for next year but I wanted to ask you all to do something.
www.hermannmuenster.com is Hermann's internet based news site. They helped us a ton this year and provide a great service to the Hermann area.
There was one lodger in Particular (Hermann Motel) that disappointed almost everyone. They are a serious focus of mine. I do not believe that the Chamber will tolerate this kind of bad service.
While I work with the chamber on lodging issues, I would love for you all that stayed in Hermann to go to the above site and register for their forums and post in my thread a review of where you stayed....good and bad. Please be as factual as you can as I want to use this as a tool to make improvements.
The community will enjoy seeing all of your input as this site gets about 800 hits per day.
Thanks,
Kyle

I had an unpleasent experience with the Hermann Motel. First, they quickly and conventiently jacked their prices up for the Shelby Fest event, then they overcharged my credit card. (Just checked my statement online) I have already called them and hopefully this will get straightened out. I say avoid at all cost.

Tried to charge me $120 a night instead of the $70 quoted over the phone. I got them down to $80 a night, still more than quoted.
Fraudulently charged my card $240 the day BEFORE I arrived. I looked the owner in the face and told him he had charged my card the day before. He lied and said he did not and that "I would see when I got my statement". That same credit card was compromised and have many bogus charges on it. Card is cancelled and will be disputing all of those charges. I never had a problem with that card until the Herman Motel got the number. I’m just say’in.
Motel was OK but A/C was not cold enough and they did not provide any soap or shampoo.
AVOID at all cost next year.

Also stayed at the Vinchester Inn. It was reasonably priced, clean, but plain jane amenities and dated. The lady at the desk was friendly and helpful. Parking was off street but a little tricky as you had to access via a pot hole filled alley with a very steep grade. Overall a rousing okay.

My son and I also stayed at Secret Vine-our room wasn't as fancy as Steve's but was comfortable for the two of us (and right behind our parking stall for the show which was quite convenient). The breakfast Saturday was good and I agree the owners were very nice.

That would be me. I was quoted 69.00 when I made my reservation back in October. When I checked in, I was informed that the "weekend rate" was 98.00 plus tax. The desk clerk told me that I had been quoted the incorrect rate over the phone.
She also told me that if I didn't want the room, that was fine as they had a waiting list. %pm on Saturday nite, what could I do? I paid it, but I won't ever stay there again.
I hope everyone boycotts them next year. And I will do my part to remind everyone when the time comes.

Sunday, I spoke Hermann's head of tourism about the problems. He said he would speak to the chamber as well as the hotel owners.
Monday, I called AAA and spoke with their national ratings board. I advised them of all the issues. They asked to see emails, posts and letters from those that were dissatisfied.
Please continue to pm me, email me, and post on this sight, and the Hermann based site (www.hermannmuenster.com). I created a Shelbyfest lodging thread there.
All of this info will be of great assistance to me.
Thanks all,
Kyle

well too start off we had 2 rooms for 2 nights and paid 114 per room per night and was told that it was the special shelbyfest rate. They charged almost $600 and they doubled our card which ended up charging over $1200 for the rooms. They offered a continial breakfast which turned out to be a few muffins and very little milk and juice. One of the rooms came with pet roaches and barely any AC and toilet didnt flush in both rooms they locked up the ice machines sat and sat night. stayed there last year and had much better service. I was told that the new owners had just bought it in December but that is no excuse for the poor service. no soap or shampoo in either rooms. if anything i think they should refund money on the hotel stay. I had heard them tell the people in front of us when checking in that this was a big difference from what they really charge but to find out there so called special was only 42 cents different.. I will never stay there again. I just think that they were jacking up the price with everyone and mis quoating them and telling something else.

No argument here however I really think that the Hermann Chamber won't tolerate such business practices. AAA was simply another direct way that I think we can effect them quickly.

I saw Steve's room. It was like a palace compared to my room in Hermann Inn!
I paid $90.00 a night for 3 nights. When I made the reservation I said I needed 2 beds since my son was coming along as well. I got there and checked in assuming that we had 2 beds but only had one. $90.00 a night seemed kind of steep for a 1 bed room at this kind of motel. Since I'm the guy paying I made "sonny" sleep on the floor for 3 nights. I did not want to make a big deal out of it and ruin the weekend since I don't get to got to many fun events because of my business.
I am making different plans on where to stay next year for sure. We had soap and "the bed" was made everyday but when I travel almost 500 miles I want to stay somewhere a little more upscale.
I have to say the company of Shelby owners made it much easier to take staying there as well. I owe pretty much everyone that was there a bunch of beer next year! It took until the middle of IL. before the after effects from Saturday night wore off!
