I'll be doing the first oil change on my car this week. The oil filter that is currently on the engine, is a Fram PH8A. Does anyone know the Ford Racing Oil Filter Part No. that will replace the Fram one? Thank you!

My engine builder swears by Motorcraft FL-1A and Havoline or Valvoline 20w-50 oil, but it probably depends on what engine you have. The racing version of that filter is FL-1HP, but I was told to stick with the FL-1A, although that may just be personal preference. But I will go with my builder's personal preferences. He has been doing this since 1968 and specializes in only 427 and 428 engines. (I have a 427 sideoiler.) If you have something different, you might ask the person that built your engine.

There was an entire thread on this in the Cobra Club forum and Fram filters were generally considered to be pretty poor quality......

Hope this helps!

Thanks you sir! The engine is a Keith Craft 427 sideoiler. I have always run Kendal GT1 Racing oil in my cars and will be running their 20W50 in this. I'll check into the local Ford dealer that carries the Ford Racing parts, tomorrow. Thank you again.

You might just want to call Keith Craft and ask. Doesn't get much more knowledgeable than that....

Just in case you want to spend a bit more time on this, here are a few threads and the study that pretty much says all Frams are crap:
