You cant rate a transmission by how much HP it will handle. That's false advertisement. If they said 1000 ft lbs of torque it would make sense. It depends on weight, gear ratio's, tire size, ect. This is 4000 lb car with 800 to 1000 HP and you better go big or you might end up in the wall. Size does matter, bill proved already that this trans doesn't have the size. So unless they made it bigger while they were at it. Then it can and will break. 5K drop with slicks. GOOD LUCK with your transzilla. Its going to look like Godzilla beat the (IMG:style_emoticons/default/censored.gif) out of it.

I never said what the torque rating was but since you mentioned it FYI ...the G-Force TR6060 has a torque rating of 1200 lbs . What did you say your 4R100 automatic was rated at?

BTW...You never answered the question about wheather the Jerico you recommended makes a six speed for the GT500 either...

FYI any transmission either Auto or stick can fail in a racing situation even a full blown racing transmission...all it takes is for some small mistake like a missed shift .

Don't forget we're talking about a street car here not a dedicated race car. A car that because of the 5th and 6th overdrive gears is capable of getting 21-24 mpg on the highway while driving across country, run mid to low 10 second 1/4 mile times on a drag strip and run consistantly fast laps on a road course .....all for fun of course and do it reliably.

1200 ft lbs of torque out of any TR6060 just BS IMHO. As for what a 4R100 is rated for. The 100 In the part number 4R"100" says its rated 1000 ft lbs of torque stock. If you have a racing trans built. You can pick your gear ratio's. So fifth could be as high of a gear as any six speed. While racing just run 4. Yes i agree that no trans is bullet or driver proof. Many guys with diesel trucks are running 1200+ FT LB's of torque and weigh in at 6k running 4R100 transmission dependably. Yes i believe it should be a killer trans for my car and i can build it very cheap. Here's a link, you can check for yourself at what they make. Just remember this is JMHO from my experience. Ive aways found its better to over build when it comes to any kind of racing. Makes racing more fun and less work. http://www.jericoperformance.com/27.html

Thanks for the info on the 4r100 I'll keep it in mind if or when I need to replace the transmission in my 2001 Lightning.

Here's one that weighs 4700 and has made 100+ passes. With 4R100 and PI 2400 rpm converter, no trans brake.
http://www.9secondlightning.com/content/view/12/27/ Its not the fastest 4R100 anymore. One is running 9.50's now. Here's the video.....

Over 300 runs with a gforce non clutch-less style trans 3475 pounds et range as fast as 8.6 at over 160mph.
My Shelby has the gforce 6 speed in it now for 2 years ,car has gone 10.9 at 131.54

Most racing trans failures are from miss shifts(human error , the more Hp you make the less forgiven it is on parts I don't care what you have in it)

You want a fun car keep it a stick ,you want a drag only car put the auto in.
Either way is fine as long as your happy.

Hands down Gforce makes the best stick transmissions out there period!!!
Nascar teams and Prostock teams use Gforce transmission. (it sure isn't because Gforce is the cheapest one out there)
