Take a look at the Roush Extreme Off-Road Exhaust Kit. I have them on my 08 GT500.

I replaced my cast iron "log type" exhaust manifolds with Ford Racing ceramic shorty headers and then added the full 3" mandrel JBA exhaust with (high flow cats) shown in the SPP catalog for the Super Snake 700.
By using the shorty's I can have a tubed header, and I can easily re-install my original O.E.M. exhaust or the O.E.M. w/Borla cat-back from the Super Snake conversion "if" emissions inspections were to start up in Fla.
As soon as I decide to spend the $$$, I am going to buy the shortened axle assy. offered for the Super Snake by Moser, and install the 305/35ZR20 Pirelli P Zero's that I have already purchased. This way the 305's will fit without sticking out past the fender lip.

Robert, how do you like the new exhaust? I have been looking at that same system for my car. Any info and a review would be very helpful. Mark

The sound is raspy. I need to bring the car to a exhaust shop and have the pipes re-positioned, currently they rattle under the car. The did not rattle at first, but after the system has been heated and cooled a few times, the pipes need some adjusting. I have also purchased the 2007 GT500 trans x-member for installation at the same time. Unlike the 2008-up trans. x-member, the 2007 had mid-points for exhaust hangers.<<This may help for supporting the larger 3" system.

both pipes dis-associated just behind the x-pipe. when I made my 3rd run of the night the car was loud and I knew something was wrong. looked under the car and the pipes were both off and sagging. fortunately did not hit the ground. I took off the exhause completely (behind the x-pipe) and ran a couple more times. Sounds great without exhaust but I'm a little dissapointed that this happened to me... I just got the car from SAI 2 months ago.

It has happened to more of us than you would know. When you try to line up the exhaust things get shifted. I dropped an exhaust tube at Sebring at 155 MPH. Imagine if that one had hit the pavement and stuck!!
It's a simple enough fix and at least now you'll know it's on there and locked down tight.
Lee Novikoff did long tubes and a full 3 inch exhaust. His car is SICK!

Thanks Van
I guess if this is a common issue the next question is: is there anyone at SAI who is aware and what is being done to find out why this is and/or correct the situation?
Again... I just got mine back from conversion 2 months ago.
Please someone from SAI let us know if you have identified this issue and if so what is the cause/remedy?

Ron - 3" JBA came apart? or the Borla that was added during your SS conversion?
Thanks, Robert

If this is the SSP JBA 3" that is being talked about, JBA sould be contacted, either through SPP or directly, right? SAI did not install 3" as part of their Super Snake conversion. 3" JBA is an "owner added" item and if there is an issue with the sleeve clamp set-up behind the x-pipe, it would have to be re-designed at JBA. Right? There may even be some sort of JBA installation procedure that should be provided that we did not receive?
The only exhaust alteration done at SAI was the addition of a 2.5" Borla set-up. If that came apart, then that is a different story. All other exhaust parts on the Super Snake are 2.5" Ford assy, line items. To keep the Super Snake 50 state legal, nothing but the cat back could be altered, and it is 2.5" Borla, not 3" JBA.

The quality/style of clamps used make all the difference in the world in the pipes staying put! I have JBA 1 3/4" long tubes with their catted 3" x-pipe and full 3" exhaust thereafter. Here is a link to the clamp I ended up using to connect the x-pipe to mid pipe as the original clamps provided did not secure these pipes after the exhaust was removed several times for clutch/tranny work. http://www.verocious...int-Connections All exhaust connections after the mid pipe were tack welded as well as clamped. I wanted to avoid any loose connections down the road. All is well now! BTW, the original clamps for the x pipe to mid pipe were slip joint clamps, not butt joint clamps. That's why they didn't hold the pipes secure after they were loosened and tightened several times!!

Yes, that is what clamps my 3" JBA together. I see you have an 08? Have you added the 07 trans. x-member with the mid-point exhaust hangers?
This is the 2008/09 GT500 x-member with no exhaust support. It is like the x-member that is currently on my 2008 Super Snake........
http://cgi.ebay.com/...RK%3AMEWAX%3AIT
This is the 2007 GT500 x-member with center/mid-pipe support............

My JBA 3" has hanger brackets welded to the mid-pipes for support in this center area, my 08 GT500 has no hanger provision. If the JBA was engineered to have support in this mid area, and I do not have it attached to hangers, it "could" come apart since without mid support it is hanging on the headers or manifolds, and then all the way at the rear of the car. I decided to buy a 07 GT500 x-member for the added mid-point support.
And no, Ford does not list the two 07 GT500 exhaust hangers seperately so they could be added to an 08/09 x-member. It requires the purchased of the complete 07 x-member assy., but it is under $100.

I agree that with the support of long tubes, the installation is completely different than me with shorty's.

Ron - I just re-read your post that included this link: http://www.verocious...int-Connections . Those sleeve type "butt clamps" are what came with my JBA 3" when I bought it from SSP. Yours came with a different clamp set-up?

Robert: If you got those 3.5" length butt connector clamps when you purchased your JBA 3" system you did good! When I picked my car up @ SAI in May of '08 I took it to JBA directly in San Diego and they installed my exhaust system and dynoed it. The slip joint clamps are the clamps their tech used and I was not savvy enough to notice them at the time. They held my pipes in place ok until I removed my tranny the first time to replace the OEM clutch with an aftermarket Spec Super Twin. The second time I removed my tranny due to a destroyed input shaft bearing which caused 4th gear syncro to be taken out. I took my tranny to G Force Transmissions for their Street Six Speed build and all is well now. (It's nice to have them in your backyard, LOL) It's after I replaced my clutch did I notice the driver side clamp was not holding too good because the exhaust tip was not centered in the rear valence anymore and you could move it quite easily. That's when I researched the clamps and ordered the ones from Verocious Motorsports to have on hand when I reinstalled my rebuilt tranny. That's the long story how I ended up with those clamps.

One week later, the R.H. Borla exhaust long pipe became disconnected at the X pipe clamp while cruising.
I put the car on my lift, and basically had to move the entire R.H. system forward to better fit the long pipe into the clamp. No problem since, but the R.H. exhaust tip now sits in about 1/2" inward than L.H. (you have to look real hard to notice).
Called and wrote SAI with the problem. Was told what I did was the best fix for this Borla exhaust problem (and tack welding the joints).
My biggest disappointment is that the exhaust system still rattles over rough roads. Could that be contributed to the new lower suspension set up (and rough Michigan roads)?
All in all, SAI has been great to me and I love the car!
