Hey guys I am looking to purchase the new 2010 GT500 steering wheel and putting it on my shelby gt. I called my dealership and it is a direct fit to our columns but he was unsure about the wiring for the cruise control and radio options. I was wondering If anyone had attempted to do this or if there are any electrical gurus our there that had an easy fix.

As long as I can get my cruise to work normally, I would go forth with the mod, but I do not want to lose that just for looks and feel of a new wheel.

Any help would be awesome thanks guys.

someone already did it, do a google search, its not plug and play for sure, but the wheel goes right on the hub fine enough.

I read that the procedure has been accomplished but it did not say with how much difficulty haha. Still a little nervous to pull the trigger. A first hand experience with details is what im looking for!!

 Radio controls on the wheel would be so sweet !

For whatever it's worth, these guys were a big help getting me the right harness to go with the factory sirius satellite module I installed. The harness goes from the Nav unit to the sirius module. Perhaps they can help with the steering wiring?? www.radiosandmore.com

Here's a post from another forum that has the wiring conversion information for the cruise control along with the lights for the radio. But I have not heard of anyone successfully get the radio controls to work due some clocking spring changes in the column.

I just about pulled the trigger on the 2010 GT-500 steering wheel. However, I pulled back since noone has gotten the radio controls to work...it would drive me nuts having the buttons inactive.

+2 but I bet we will have to buy the whole air bag assembly. :headscratch:

Just noticed that key. That would be cool to have on the SGT too...

I already have a key like that for mine. I used the blank for I believe a Ford Fusion and cut it to match my original keys and then programmed the buttons using the owners manual. This makes it a lot easier now all I have in my pocket is the multifunction key instead of a key andremote fob.

Wow, a Fusion key will work. I'm going ask my dealer when I pick it up for the new stripe job. No key fob would be so cool. :happy feet:

Been using a Fusion keyin my SGT for almost 2 years, love it. The key is almost 100 bucks at the dealer. The programming instructions for the key and fob are posted below.

Chris

Programming spare keys

You can program your own coded keys to your vehicle. Please read and
understand the entire procedure before you begin.
Tips:
• A maximum of eight keys can be coded to your vehicle.
• Only use Securilock keys.
• You must have two previously programmed coded keys (keys that
already operate your vehicle’s engine) and the new unprogrammed
key(s) readily accessible.
• If no previously programmed coded keys are available, you must take
your vehicle to your dealer to have the spare key(s) programmed.
1. Insert a previously programmed
coded key into the ignition.
2. Turn the ignition from the 1
(OFF/LOCK) position to the 3 (ON)
position. Keep the ignition in the 3
(ON) position for at least one
second, but no more than 10
seconds.
3. Turn the ignition to the 1
(OFF/LOCK) position, and remove
the coded key from the ignition.
4. Within ten seconds of removing the previously programmed coded key,
insert the other previously programmed coded key into the ignition.
5. Turn the ignition from the 1 (OFF/LOCK) position to the 3 (ON)
position. Keep the ignition in the 3 (ON) position for at least one second
but not more than 10 seconds.
6. Turn the ignition to the 1 (OFF/LOCK) position, and remove the
second key from the ignition.
7. Within twenty seconds of removing the previously programmed coded
key, insert the unprogrammed key (new/valet key) into the ignition.
8. Turn the ignition from the 1 (OFF/LOCK) position to the 3 (ON)
position. Keep the ignition in the 3 (ON) position for at least one second.
9. Your new unprogrammed key is now programmed.
If the key has been successfully programmed it will start the vehicle’s
engine and the theft indicator light will illuminate for three seconds and
then go out. If the key was not successfully programmed, it will not start your vehicle’s engine and the theft indicator light will flash on and off
rapidly. If failure repeats, bring your vehicle to your dealer to have the
new key(s) programmed.
To program additional new unprogrammed key(s), repeat this procedure
from Step 1 for each additional key.

Programming Remote transmitters:

How to reprogram your remote entry transmitters
You must have all remote entry transmitters (maximum of six)
available before beginning this procedure.

Note: Ensure the brake pedal is not depressed during this sequence.

To reprogram the remote entry transmitters:

1. Ensure the vehicle is electronically unlocked.

2. Put the key in the ignition.

3. Cycle eight times rapidly (within 10 seconds) between the 1 (OFF/LOCK) position and 3 (ON).

Note: The eighth turn must end in the 3 (ON) position. The doors will lock, then unlock, to confirm that the programming mode has been activated.

4. Within 20 seconds press any button on the remote entry transmitter.
Note: If more than 20 seconds have passed you will need to start the
procedure over again. The doors will lock, then unlock, to confirm that
this remote entry transmitter has been programmed.

5. Repeat Step 4 to program each additional remote entry transmitter.

6. Turn the ignition to the 1 (OFF/LOCK) position after you have
finished programming all of the remote entry transmitters. Note: After
20 seconds, you will automatically exit the programming mode. The
doors will lock, then unlock, to confirm that the programming mode has
been exited.

Does anyone have the part # for the Fusion Key? Thanks!

I picked mine up off of ebay for around $40 and I have access to a key cutting machine so I cut it myself but a I'm sure a hardware store or locksmith wouldn't charge to much to cut a key you brought in.
I believe the part number is: 164-R7013R or 164-R7000
