This is a replacement for our PS24W halogen bulb. Stock is 24w - this replacement is 37w with a slight blue tint. I just ordered a set. Was weondering if anyone has tried it and what it looks like.

Cancel your order ASAP. I ordered mine from Summit for $22.95 a couple of weeks ago:

I cannot distinguish a difference between these and the stock bulbs and will be returning them.

What's the difference? Besides cost really - the descriptions on these things can be misleading, after all, they're both "manufactured with the best technology in the field" lol. Where do you read between the lines on light bulbs? :headscratch:

(Serious question).

You have installed these and there's NO difference between this bulb and the stock? No brighter or different color at all?

I installed one, then turned only the foglamps on. I could not tell the difference in color or brightness. I then turned on my HID headlamps and was very disappointed in the one Putco bulb I put in. I immediately put the stocker back in.

The package is marked 3800K. I'm taking an educated guess but I believe the headlamps are closer to 5000k. Buying these was, let's just say, a disappointment.

Spend a few more bucks and put real HIDs in your fog housings. Just stick with the 35w ones. The 55 and 75s will likely melt the plastic OEM housing.

Do you know of an HID bulb that will fit the stock housing?

For me, I cannot justify the cost of true HID's for a pair of lights I never use. That's why I tried the Putco bulbs, just so I know they come close to the headlamps in color. Oh well.......

Here's a good color representation of the different frequencies. Yep, 3800k is on the yellow side, just like the package is marked.

This one might work for the cheap at heart (like me):

http://www.summitrac...ts/PUT-23001NB/

They are 6000k.

Thanks Willie. I cancelled the other order. I'll try this for the interim - until somebody gets an HID kit that fits the stock housing.

Every time I use a link to view a light bulb, the link always pulls up a GM light bulb.
So I called summit
The correct Putco light bulb for 2007 on up is
H-13
Part number 230013 NB
NB stands for Nitro Blue
Cost $30.39
Order item only. I could not find it on their web site and had to to call them to get info on it.

The Summit racing 22 dollar cheepies are GM lights that are not as bright - you pay for what you get.
Hope this helps.

That's true. These other bulbs are 37w which should be fine. Stock is 24w so this will be a little improvement.

Guys,

They're listed under GM because there are several GM models, like the '07 Avalanche that use not only the same bulb as us but the same light assembly!!!! I even purchased a spare pair of bulbs from GM because the bulbs from Ford are about three times the cost. What's pictured are my original Ford bulbs (slightly yellowed plastic) next to the Avalanche bulb -- they are identical.

Oh, and if anyone is interested in a direct HID replacement, I supplied the link above. It's a 35-watt variant which should work fine. It's $140....

Hey Guys,

Sorry for making this a big deal, but I had trouble following this thread......

I want an HID BLUE bulb to match my HID headlights....price is no object.

Would someone please post a link to where I can purchase a bulb with this configuration that will NOT melt my housing?

Thanks,

Sudguy4
