SVT Raptor XT from Ford Racing Tops 500 HP
The F-150 SVT Raptor, launched in August with Ford's proven 320-hp 5.4-liter Triton V-8, is off to a strong start. Now, Ford Racing is set to offer the 2011 FR Raptor XT, making Raptor even more capable in the rough stuff, but without giving up the control and comfort found in the production Raptor. Considered an off-road-only pre-runner, the FR Raptor XT from Ford Racing builds upon the production Raptor's already impressive capabilities. The FR Raptor XT is nearly the same truck that finished the 2008 Tecate SCORE Baja 1000, but with all the comfort and convenience you'd find in a production Raptor. Essentially, FR Raptor XT is a turnkey professional pre-runner. linky- http://www.fordracing.com/news/detail/?article=37109 Okay, So what I have problem with is this: It is not for use for racing, and it is not street legal.....umm, okay, so what IS it good for? Puttin around your hunting lease or ranch? Driving your garbage cans down to the end of the driveway? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headscratch.gif) I just dont get it... They finally release the 6.2 engine in it, but its still an F-150 so I cant haul with it, it has no VIN so I cant drive it on the roads anyway, its not race ready like the Cobra Jet, so I cant race it without undisclosed upgrades...whats it good for? My wishlist? A F-250 or F-350 Shelby or Raptor with the biggest cab I can get...and a nice 6.2L engine to mod to my delight...why is that asking too much? My brother would add a F-450 conversion.....now that would be simply the baddest beast in all the land! An F550 would be okay too brother! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy feet.gif) What do yall think? |

Totally agree. I would think that the pre-runner market for such a truck would be less than 100 units, so why bother? There's such a bigger market out there for this truck in a street version. Also a bigger towing capable rig with the same options would be huge.
Guess that I should have read the entire article - only 50 units. They might sell all of those, I don't know. I do know of some guys who do spend $300K plus to build their pre-runner trucks every year or two, so there might be enough of a market for these 50. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy feet.gif) What do yall think? I just want a 4X4 reg-cab short-box F-150 with a six speed MANUAL trans. and either the new 5.0 or a 6.2 V8 with at least 400hp. Ford won't build it so I can't buy it. I can buy a four-door Ford F-150 outfitted like a luxury-car with a lame automatic and the gutless 5.4--come on Ford--sell me a TRUCK! (Can't afford a Raptor-want a 4x4 but don't need something that serious off-roading--love the way they look though-especially in blue) |

I agree with crazy, just give us a V8 option with a manual in the F150. Is that really too much to ask? I *WILL NOT* buy an automatic. I just don't like 'em.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy feet.gif) What do yall think? I would prefer a big turbo charged "diesel" option rather than the 6.2 gas engine. A diesel off road in my opinion is far superior than any gas engine. I own a Jeep Lib. modified off road use with a diesel engine and it will out haul, out climb any of my friends gas Wranglers. Ton's more torque than a gas engine for it's size, longer distance range. Steve Bullhead City, AZ. |

Well first let me get under a chair... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/hide.gif)
Okay, now that I have done that... The top engine option on the 2011 F-150 (just the F-150 line) won't be the 5.4 anymore. The 6.2 will be available in the Raptor, but only in the Raptor. If your unhappy with the current engines offered in the F-150 line now, you might/will be suprised at what the 2011 engine options for the F-150 are going to be. Yeah, its on the build option for next march I hear...but I'll wait and see for now. |

I imagine you are refering to the 5.0 Coyote engine (among others?) and I've heard it will have 400HP--if so very cool but now provide a manual tranny Ford! |
