Why does Shelby put Pirelli 285 tires on a 750hp car?
If they put some sticky tires on that supersnake would of destroyed the competition, even the writers pointed this out. Was interesting to me that Hennessy had to rip out the Camaro engine and replace it with the ZR1 LS9 to compete. The 750 hp GT500 had an upgraded blower and a suspension (IMG:style_emoticons/default/hysterical.gif) Speedsouth showed up with a "700" hp Challenger that dynoed 440, making them look like amateurs. Good read. |

I don't understand this story at all. The Super Snake has more HP and is lighter. Hello....it's called a throttle-try using it.

Her post doesn't make sense to me because Shelby has always recommended Pirelli 275's for thier 725 Supersnake. Pirelli tires are garbage! And skinny tires at that, what a joke! |

Yes, the Pirelli 275s on the SS have been and continue to be a joke to anyone that knows anything about performance when the look at the car. They immeadiatly give the correct impression that the SS is all show and no go. Sorry guys but the SS is about as fast as MT found it to be. Its slower than a properly driven GT500 that is already traction limited. 200 more hp cannot make up that much time lost at the start line. If the SS is supposed to be a performance option, Shelby missed the mark. The car looks great and the package is well optioned otherwise, but the wheel/tire issue needed to be solved on an $80,000 car long ago. |
